PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Subject One (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Storm Warning (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Subject One!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Storm Warning!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warning fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nice sprawl there from One as Warning shoots in.

Warning shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Warning showed some decent athleticism there.
Warning wants to pass the guard but One is defending well.
Warning is thwarting One's attempts to control the position.
One wants to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Warning lands strikes from half guard.
One is looking for a sweep. Warning is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Warning is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and One defends it well.
Warning is looking to take a break and control but One is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Warning throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Warning tries to pass the half guard into mount. One knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Storm Warning has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
An inside leg kick from One misses.
Warning misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Warning misses with the combination.
One swings for the body but Warning moves out of range.

One gets a double leg takedown into Warning's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
One throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Warning has control of One's left arm, preventing One from doing any damage.
Warning controls One momentarily but One frees himself.
One loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
One working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Warning's head.
One throwing strikes from guard but Warning blocks nicely.
One postures up in Warning's guard and throws a big left but Warning blocks it.

Warning has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but One can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Warning controls One momentarily but One frees himself.
Warning has One pulled in close to control his posture.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
One throws an elbow that misses. Warning uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in One's guard. Nice move by Warning!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
One keeping moving, preventing Warning from controlling successfully.
One knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Warning on the ground.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Storm Warning was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Warning uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by One.
One misses with a jab, cross combination.

Warning darts in and clinches One up against the cage.
Warning is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but One is keeping busy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Warning blocks an elbow strike from One.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
One misses with an elbow over the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Storm Warning dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Warning scores with a push kick.
Warning avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Warning is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

One has hold of one of Warning's legs. Warning is fighting the takedown attempt but One gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
One throws an elbow that misses. Warning uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in One's guard. Nice move by Warning!
One has a closed guard, preventing Warning from standing up.
Warning wants to control from the top but One keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Warning throws a big elbow that misses.

Warning drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but One manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Warning has One in his guard.
Warning is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
One on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if One tries to get out of the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Warning seems to be working for a kimura but One defends the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Warning not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Warning wants to control but One is keeping him busy.
Warning passes the guard and advances to mount!
Warning thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Warning is working for a guillotine from mount but One frees his head quite easily.
Warning controlling his opponent.
One might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Warning trying to control but One is having none of it.
One is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Storm Warning showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Warning closes the distance and pushes One back into the cage.
Warning tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. One just stands there and leans against the cage.
Warning is trying to push One away but One has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Warning blocks an elbow strike from One.
Warning avoids the elbow strike from One, against the cage.
One pushes off an throws an elbow but Warning leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
One pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Warning tries to pull guard but One won't allow it.
One is pressed up against the cage. Warning has hold of a leg and is looking to drag One down to the mat. One avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Subject One has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Storm Warning.

One shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Warning flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Warning. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
One sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Warning defending well though.
Warning is pressing down on One's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Warning is on top in guard.
Warning trying to control but One is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Warning drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Warning jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Warning sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Warning wants to control from the top but One keeps moving.
Subject One has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Warning gets to his feet - One follows without any prompting.
Warning dives in and grabs One's left leg, looking for a takedown. One pushes down on Warning's head and hops out.
Subject One seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
One misses with an attempted mid kick.
One is looking to clinch.
Warning shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has One pinned against the cage. One gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Warning shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with One but One pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Warning shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. One is trying to defend but Warning finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
One keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Warning trying to control from half guard but One is working away.
Warning might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control One kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Storm Warning hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
One takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Subject One has been cut.
Warning feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to One's calf.
Warning throws a series of strikes that have One backpedaling.
Subject One is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Warning gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Warning tries to break the clinch but One is controlling the position.
One throws an elbow that misses.
Warning tries to pull guard but One holds him up against the cage and eventually Warning drops back down to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Warning jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as One walks away with a smile on his face. Warning gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Storm Warning is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Warning chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Warning fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. One sprawls well initially but Warning persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Storm Warning comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Warning has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
