Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Slaughter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simpson comes to the cage accompanied by The Fire by The Roots. Slaughter has chosen Bulldozer - Goldishack Guerrillas as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Simpson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Josh Slaughter! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.

Slaughter tries to close the distance and clinch but Simpson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Slaughter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Simpson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Simpson gets the takedown into side control. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Simpson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Slaughter sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Simpson in side control, throwing shots but Slaughter defends. Slaughter wants to get back to his feet. Simpson is looking to take a break and control but Slaughter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Simpson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Simpson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Slaughter is trying to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Slaughter defending against the ground and pound. Slaughter prevents Simpson from improving position. Slaughter pushes Simpson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Simpson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Slaughter parries the strikes from Simpson easily there. Simpson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Slaughter to escape.
Simpson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Slaughter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simpson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Slaughter throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Slaughter tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Slaughter gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Slaughter tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Simpson's elbow.

Slaughter gets through Simpson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Slaughter lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Slaughter lands a damaging elbow. Slaughter lands a hook to the side of the head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Simpson's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Simpson is trying to pull guard but Slaughter has him pressed against the cage. Slaughter gets through Simpson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Simpson tries to break the clinch but Slaughter is controlling the position. Slaughter tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Simpson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Slaughter to keep the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Simpson. That's going to take a lot out of him. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Simpson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Slaughter smiles and moves away.
Nice uppercut there from Simpson. Slaughter stuffs the takedown attempt from Simpson. Simpson gets slowly back to his feet. Slaughter wants to clinch.

Slaughter walks into a jab. Slaughter takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Slaughter moves to clinch but Simpson breaks away and Simpson counters with a left to the body. Slaughter wants to clinch. Simpson throws a series of punches but Slaughter avoids them all with ease. Slaughter wants to clinch.

Simpson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Josh Slaughter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fight moves into the clinch position. A short right hand to the side of the head by Slaughter. Slaughter gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

It looks like Steve Simpson has been cut. Slaughter lands an elbow inside. Slaughter lands a hook to the side of the head. Slaughter lands with a left to the head. Simpson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Slaughter just stands there and leans against the cage. Slaughter scores with a shot to the side of Simpson's head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Simpson wants to take the fight to the mat but Slaughter manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Simpson tries to pull guard but Slaughter forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Slaughter lands an uppercut. Simpson scores with a nice hook to the head. Slaughter lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Josh Slaughter will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Steve Simpson's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Simpson swats away the attempt to clinch by Slaughter.

Simpson is rocked! Simpson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Slaughter's waist but Slaughter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Simpson off to one side. Slaughter tries to clinch but Simpson moves out of range. Simpson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Josh Slaughter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slaughter gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. A nice left hand lands by Slaughter.
Oh Simpson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! A head punch on the inside from Slaughter fails to land. Simpson seems to have got his legs back now. Simpson jumps guard but Slaughter stands there with Simpson around his waist. Simpson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Simpson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Slaughter creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Simpson's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Simpson drops to his knees and Slaughter pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Josh Slaughter! After winning the bout, Josh Slaughter thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
