PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Seanoa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felix Slughterdog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seanoa comes into the arena with Mama Said Knock You Out blaring out of the sound system. Felix Slughterdog told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Seanoa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Felix Slughterdog! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Seanoa closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Seanoa landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Seanoa lands a shot to the body. Slughterdog tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Seanoa's elbow. Slughterdog tries to break the clinch but Seanoa is controlling the position. Slughterdog tries to break free but Seanoa pushes him back against the cage. Seanoa manages to break the clinch.

Slughterdog is fighting off a takedown attempt but Seanoa is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Slughterdog to the mat. Slughterdog regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Seanoa slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Seanoa is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Seanoa stands up and waves to Slughterdog to follow him. Seanoa fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Slughterdog, pushing him back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Seanoa manages to break the clinch.
Seanoa drives through with a takedown into Slughterdog's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Slughterdog being controlled here, momentarily. Seanoa is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Seanoa passes into half guard. Slughterdog really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Seanoa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Seanoa decides to stand and escape the position. Seanoa looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Seanoa controlling the action here. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Seanoa's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Seanoa is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Slughterdog doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Seanoa. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Slughterdog lands a two punch combo.
Seanoa manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Slughterdog on his heels. He'll look to pass Slughterdog's guard now, I'm sure. Seanoa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
We're going to have a standup here because Joe Seanoa wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Seanoa darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Slughterdog trying to control here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Seanoa moves nicely into side control. Seanoa decides to take the fight back to the feet. Seanoa drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Seanoa has hold of Slughterdog's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Slughterdog tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Seanoa cranks the arm and Slughterdog screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Slughterdog, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Joe Seanoa! Our winner, Joe Seanoa, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
