Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paul Bruens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bruens's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, River Below. Paul Bruens is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Bruens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Jones! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A nice leg kick lands there from Bruens. Bruens tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Bruens. Bruens wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. An inside leg kick from Bruens misses. Jones paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Bruens shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jones counters with a shoot takedown. Bruens fights it but they end up in guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bruens is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Bruens's corner is telling him to maintain position. Bruens wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Jones wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bruens manages to pass to side control. Bruens is figuring out what he wants to do next. Bruens is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bruens performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Bruens lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Bruens trying to pass the guard but Jones defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bruens passes to full mount! Jones wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Bruens cracks Jones with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Bruens can't control as he wanted to and Jones manages to get the fight back to his half guard. Bruens is just content to waste time from the top position. Jones takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones keeping full guard, as Bruens tries to pass. Bruens throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Bruens wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position. Jones is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Bruens goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Bruens lands a hook to the side of the head. Bruens gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Jones is refusing to be controlled, as Bruens sits in half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Bruens is trying to control the action in half guard but Jones is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Bruens keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Jones kicks off Bruens and gets to his feet. Jones dives in and scores a takedown into Bruens's guard. Bruens is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Bruens not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Jones is trying to escape back to his feet but Bruens uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Bruens tries to advance to mount but can't. Bruens is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jones has escaped the position, nice work there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bruens wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy. Bruens working the ground and pound but Jones is defending the strikes.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Jones sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Jones is looking to escape. Bruens is nestled in close to Jones, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Jones blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bruens. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bruens is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Jones on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Jones avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bruens.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Jones is looking to escape. Bruens is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Bruens throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Jones to regain full guard. Bruens controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Bruens looking to pass the guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bruens postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Jones has Bruens pulled in close to control his posture.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Bruens trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. Bruens is really struggling to control Jones but he's trying to hold on to the position. Bruens has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We're going to have a standup here because Paul Bruens wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bruens moves away. Bruens closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jones quickly recovers to half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones pushes Bruens off looking to stand but Bruens dives back in and keeps control.
Bruens content to control rather than advance. Jones is staying active underneath Bruens, who seems content to just control the action from this position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruens tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes. Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Bruens tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bruens manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Bruens dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Jones. That did some damage! Bruens looks for a takedown but Jones sprawls well. Bruens lands with a straight right. Jones didn't see that one coming. Bruens looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Bruens. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bruens dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Bruens's head and hops out. No luck with that takedown attempt from Bruens. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jones misses with a wild body shot. Bruens shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Jones just misses with a punch to the body.

Paul Bruens overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jones misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The referee asks Jones politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jones prefers to stall for the moment though. OK we're going to have a standup here. Michael Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Bruens attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Jones misses with an uppercut. Jones tries to move into range but Bruens moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Bruens fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Bruens is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Jones is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Paul Bruens is winning the standup battle so far. Jones tries to clinch but Bruens moves out of range.

Jones is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Bruens is keeping busy. Jones is fighting off a takedown attempt but Bruens is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Jones to the mat. Jones regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Bruens stops Jones from standing up.
