And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Travis Riley!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steele slips a jab and a cross from Riley.

Steele closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Riley to the mat! Riley manages to get full guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Riley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Steele gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Riley is trying to control the position but Steele postures up.
Steele postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Steele with a flurry of punches that miss.
Riley looking for a sweep. Not yet Riley, not yet.

Steele has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Riley is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Riley controls Steele momentarily but Steele frees himself.
Steele advances to half guard.

Riley keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Steele with the ground and pound but Riley uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Steele throws an elbow that misses. Riley uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Steele's guard. Nice move by Riley!

Riley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Steele has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Riley has managed to get both his arms back between Steele's legs - danger averted.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Riley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Steele swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Steele dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Steele tries for a takedown but Riley sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
