Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Gomez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bolodenka Kharitonov! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gomez shoots for a double leg takedown but Kharitonov sprawls well. He's pushed Gomez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Gomez moves in looking to clinch but Kharitonov pushes him off. Gomez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kharitonov has his takedown stuffed and Gomez counters with a nice double leg into guard. Gomez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kharitonov is keeping the position for now. Gomez pushes down on Kharitonov's leg and manages to get into half guard. Gomez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gomez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kharitonov is just riding it out for now. Gomez eventually gives up the hold. Gomez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Gomez is working for a submission of some sort.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kharitonov looks like he's trying to stand up.
Gomez tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kharitonov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Gomez is figuring out what he wants to do next. Gomez seems to be working for a kimura but Kharitonov defends the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomez is looking for a kimura here.
Gomez uses his free foot to push down on Kharitonov's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kharitonov. Gomez goes for an armbar but Kharitonov turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kharitonov.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Kharitonov trying to control but Gomez is working from the bottom. Gomez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Gomez wants to get back to his feet but Kharitonov is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Gomez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kharitonov is aware though and is defending well. Gomez seems keen to control Kharitonov's posture. Kharitonov drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gomez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gomez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gomez! The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gomez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kharitonov has escaped the position, nice work there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jose Gomez dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gomez is defended easily by Kharitonov. Gomez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gomez on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. A telegraphed right hand from Kharitonov misses the target. A combination from Kharitonov does no damage. Kharitonov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Gomez paws at him with a jab and circles away. Gomez misses with a double jab.
Gomez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gomez is trying to get an arm triangle but Kharitonov is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gomez swings around for an armbar but Kharitonov sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gomez's guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Gomez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kharitonov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kharitonov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gomez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Gomez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kharitonov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Kharitonov looking to pass the guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gomez keeping moving, preventing Kharitonov from controlling successfully. Gomez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Kharitonov lying in Gomez's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Gomez decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Kharitonov taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
