Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Wayne Parr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Patrick Brecht! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Parr. No joy for Brecht on that attempt. Parr tries to clinch up but Brecht circles away and keeps his distance. Brecht scores with a leg kick.
Parr tries to clinch but Brecht is having none of it. Brecht forces Parr back against the cage and clinches. Knees in the clinch landing for Parr.
Parr scores with a hook to the body. Brecht takes an elbow to the forehead. Parr lands a nice knee to the body. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Parr just misses with a elbow thrown towards Brecht's brow. Parr lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Brecht's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Nice body punch from Parr. A short uppercut from Parr. Brecht tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Parr just stands there and leans against the cage. A right hook to the body lands for Parr.
Parr gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Brecht is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Parr pulls him back up using the underhooks. John Wayne Parr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Brecht. Brecht takes an elbow to the temple.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brecht wants to get back to striking at distance but Parr won't allow it.
Parr pushes off an throws an elbow but Brecht leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Parr landing knees to the body.
Brecht looks gassed! Parr lands on the inside with an uppercut. Parr unloads a knee to the mid-section. Brecht lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Parr lands an elbow just above Brecht 's eye. Brecht fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Brecht takes an elbow to the temple. Parr with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Parr looks to throw an elbow but misses. Parr lands a nice elbow. Brecht fails to pull guard.

Parr lands a hook to the side of the head. Parr throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Brecht has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Parr uses from the top position. Brecht throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Parr decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Parr stuffs the takedown attempt from Brecht. Brecht gets slowly back to his feet. Brecht misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Parr clinches. Brecht manages to pull guard.
Brecht working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Parr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Parr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Brecht looking for a sweep. Not yet Brecht, not yet. Brecht manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Parr manages to get himself to full guard.
Parr can't keep his opponent in guard - Brecht advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Parr wants to get back to his feet. Brecht tries to pass to full mount but Parr defends it. Parr looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brecht passes to full mount! Brecht controlling from mount. Brecht lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Parr is trying to stand up. Parr tries to hold on but Brecht pushes him away. Brecht trying to control but he's not successful this time. Brecht is in the full mount, landing strikes. Parr wants to try and get back to his feet. Brecht lands a heavy elbow. Brecht stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. A good leg kick by Parr.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Parr scoring well with a low kick there.
Parr rushes Brecht and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Parr using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Parr digs a right hand into Brecht's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Brecht's gas tank. Brecht is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Parr gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Parr landing knees to the head.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Parr with a knee to the head.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Wayne Parr dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Brecht shoots in for a double leg but Parr sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Parr wants to clinch up but Brecht keeps it at a distance. Parr lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Brecht throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Parr's waist but Parr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brecht off to one side. Parr clinches but Brecht breaks the clinch and Brecht counters with a nice double leg into guard. Brecht stops Parr from standing up. Parr pushes Brecht off and scrambles back to his feet.
Brecht changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Parr tries to avoid it but Brecht manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Parr to the ground. Parr escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. John Wayne Parr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Brecht. Brecht swats away the attempt to clinch by Parr. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Brecht looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Parr is fending him off so far but Brecht persists. Nope, Parr circles away and we're back to standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brecht misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Brecht shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Brecht frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Brecht working for a guillotine from mount but Parr is in no mood to give up. Brecht looking to control but Parr is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Parr trying desperately to get to his feet.
Parr tries to hold on but Brecht pushes him away. Brecht tries to control but Parr wriggling away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Parr wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Brecht has hold of Parr's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Parr manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Parr squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Brecht is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Parr is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Parr flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Brecht anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Parr and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Brecht slips an arm under Parr chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Brecht has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Brecht is squeezing on Parr like an anaconda would it's prey. Parr fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Patrick Brecht!
