Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shiro Royal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 6 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Phil Paighn!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Royal lands a jab to Paighn's midsection.
Paighn throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Royal counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Paighn dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Royal. That did some damage!
Royal throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Royal misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Royal goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Royal lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Paighn circles away quickly and effectively.
Paighn tries to close the distance and clinch up but Royal swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Royal moves out of range of the body kick from Paighn.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Paighn moves into the clinch.
Royal breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Royal drops Paighn with a beautiful combination! Paighn stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Royal is looking for the KO!
It looks like Phil Paighn has been cut.
Paighn lands a head kick!
Paighn tries to close the distance and clinch up but Royal swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Royal takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Royal swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Paighn.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Royal misses with a two punch combination.
Paighn scores with the left hand. Royal knows he should have avoided that one.
Royal thows a leg kick but Paighn checks it
and Paighn counters with a slapping leg kick.
Royal takes a jab right on the kisser.
Paighn drops Royal with a straight right hand, right on the button! Paighn follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Phil Paighn!
After winning the bout, Phil Paighn thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
