Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chris Vargas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcus Cain! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Dmitry Maklakov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cain, right into the meat.
Vargas stuffs the takedown. Cain tries to clinch but Vargas moves out of range. Vargas tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Cain lands a nice leg kick that just misses Vargas's sensitive parts. Vargas on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Cain. Cain obviously looking to wear him down.
Vargas throws a lazy head kick and Cain counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Cain moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Vargas fails miserably with a takedown attempt. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cain throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Vargas is breathing heavily. Cain fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Vargas displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cain. Vargas really is a fat lump. Cain connects with a solid leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vargas chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cain can pounce on him.
Cain fakes the leg kick and cracks Vargas in the body. Cain scores with a kick to the midsection. Vargas stuffs the takedown attempt from Cain. Cain gets slowly back to his feet. Chris Vargas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Cain. Cain throws a nice inside leg kick. Vargas slaps away a takedown attempt from Cain, before circling back to the center of the mat. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Cain.
Cain throws a nice outside leg kick. Cain dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Vargas. That did some damage!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vargas leaves Cain with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Cain throws a nice outside leg kick. Cain fails miserably with a takedown attempt. A head kick from Cain lands but Vargas takes it in his stride. Cain lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Cain moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Cain shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cain, right into the meat.
Vargas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Cain lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Vargas is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vargas takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Good leg kick by Cain there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Cain scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Vargas tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cain, right into the meat.
Cain shoots in looking for a takedown but Vargas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cain's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Cain looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Cain cracks the inside of Vargas's front leg. Cain circles away from the clinch attempt and Cain counters with a solid body kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cain tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cain cracks the inside of Vargas's front leg. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Cain.
Cain closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vargas circles away. This has been an exciting period of action! Vargas takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Cain cracks the inside of Vargas's front leg. Cain pushes Vargas away with a front kick. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Cain scoring well with a low kick there.
Cain throws a nice outside leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcus Cain dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Cain gets the takedown into side control. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Cain is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Vargas looks calm but he's in trouble here. Cain gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Vargas is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Cain lets go of the hold and Vargas can pop his arm back in it's socket.
