Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steel is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Immortal Technique-Point of no return. Cory Steel will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mauricio Rua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cory Steel! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steel fails to land with a series of punches.
Steel looks to land a right hand but Rua moved out of range. Rua scores with a head kick.
A jab from Rua does it's job there. Rua takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Mauricio Rua has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rua misses the jab. Mauricio Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Steel missing with a left hand there. Rua was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Rua looks to clinch and Steel counters with a stiff right hand. Steel misses with a wild combination.
Rua bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Rua misses with an uppercut. Steel defending well as Rua loads up on a big left hand. Steel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Steel cracks Rua with a right hand to the side of the head. Steel throws a nice looking combination but Rua bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Steel throws a series of punches but Rua moves out of range. Rua throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Steel was covering up waiting for the punch and Rua finishes the takedown easily into guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Steel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua is looking to work some ground and pound but Steel has wrist control. Rua scoring with punches to the head and body. Rua trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Rua throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Steel works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Rua trying to control but Steel is working from the bottom. Steel preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Steel is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rua is controlling him. Rua throws a big elbow that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rua is looking to work some ground and pound but Steel has wrist control. Steel is wriggling around but Rua manages to pass to half guard.
Rua throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Steel pushes Rua off looking to stand but Rua dives back in and keeps control.
Steel is defending against the submission attempts here by Rua.
Steel wants to get back to his feet.
Rua winds up and cracks Steel with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rua is looking for a kimura but Steel is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rua to get the leverage. Steel wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Steel won't allow Rua to pass to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rua throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Rua thows a huge punch but Steel dodges it nicely.
Rua misses with a head shot. Steel uses the momentum to regain guard. Rua stands up over Steel, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Steel keeping moving, preventing Rua from controlling successfully. Rua stops Steel from standing up. Rua wants to pass the guard but Steel is keeping the position. Rua with a flurry of punches that miss. Steel wants to get back to his feet but Rua is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Steel scrambles and gets back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua misses with a takedown attempt and Steel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Steel has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rua finds it's way round the side to connect with Steel's head. Steel throws a one two combo.
Mauricio Rua's cut is getting worse. Rua drives through and clinches with Steel against the cage.
Rua goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Steel fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Rua swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Steel tries to pull guard but Rua forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Steel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rua walks away with a smile on his face. Steel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Mauricio Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cory Steel. Steel rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rua moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Rua tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Steel misses with a wild body shot. Rua shoots for a double leg takedown but Steel sprawls well. He's pushed Rua's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Steel scores with a body shot.
Rua tries a head kick but it misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Cory Steel will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Mauricio Rua's cut. That's time! Rua's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Steel leaves Rua with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Steel throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rua moves into the clinch. Rua pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rua fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Steel checks it well. Rua lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Rua walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Rua closes the distance and lands a one-two. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rua is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Steel. Steel staying out of range there. Rua moves to clinch but Steel breaks away and Steel counters with a lovely straight right hand!

That's one minute gone in the round. Rua tries to clinch there but Steel circles away.
Steel keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Rua staying out of range there. Steel throws a right and a left that both miss. Rua scores with the left hand. Steel knows he should have avoided that one. Steel blocks the body kick.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Steel, as that shot connected.
Steel uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rua. Steel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rua.
Rua misses with the combination.
Rua swings for the body but Steel moves out of range.
Rua misses with a body kick. Steel getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Jeez, Mauricio Rua's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Rua throws a jab but it's blocked by Steel.

Cory Steel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Steel slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Mauricio Rua's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
