Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Raimo Tuomela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitsuyo Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raimo Tuomela could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mitsuyo Maeda's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raimo Tuomela! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mitsuyo Maeda! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tuomela takes a swing at Maeda's ribcage but misses. Maeda shoots for a double leg takedown but Tuomela sprawls well. He's pushed Maeda's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Mitsuyo Maeda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tuomela lands with an overhand left. Maeda keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Tuomela throws a nice outside leg kick. No luck with that takedown attempt from Maeda. Tuomela misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Maeda thows a body shot but no joy. Tuomela thows a left - swing and a miss! Maeda drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Maeda is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tuomela knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maeda controlling the position. Tuomela is looking for a sweep. Maeda looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Maeda taking a breather here. Tuomela is looking for a sweep. Tuomela is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Maeda asserts his dominance and retains side control. Tuomela throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Maeda shoots for a takedown but Tuomela saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Raimo Tuomela has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitsuyo Maeda. Tuomela rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Maeda counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tuomela is looking to improve his position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Maeda in particular looking to stall. Maeda is working for a kimura but Tuomela is defending it quite comfortably.

Maeda wants to control from the top but Tuomela keeps moving. Maeda slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Tuomela tries to improve position but can't. Tuomela wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maeda is trying to get an arm triangle but Tuomela is defending well. Maeda goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Tuomela has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Maeda but great work by Tuomela. Maeda is looking for a sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maeda is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Tuomela is keen to just control but Maeda is a slippery customer. This has been an exciting period of action! Maeda actively working from the bottom here. Maeda makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Maeda. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maeda looking for a guillotine here but Tuomela defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Tuomela engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Maeda is looking for a triangle here but Tuomela uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Maeda tries to buck Tuomela off but Tuomela is having none of it. Maeda is not content to let Tuomela control the position. Maeda is looking for a sweep. Tuomela is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tuomela wants to stand but Maeda is controlling his arm. Tuomela knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maeda on the ground. Maeda gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Mitsuyo Maeda has got the better of the ground game so far. Tuomela with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Raimo Tuomela. Maeda closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Maeda pulls guard. Tuomela has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Tuomela trying to control but Maeda is working from the bottom. This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tuomela trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Tuomela trying to control the position from guard on top but Maeda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Mitsuyo Maeda will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Tuomela's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Maeda jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Tuomela is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Tuomela and Maeda has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Maeda tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Tuomela struggling a bit here. Tuomela regains half guard. Mitsuyo Maeda is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Maeda wants to pass to mount but Tuomela is defending the position. Maeda is taking a breather. Tuomela says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. This has been an exciting period of action! The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Tuomela wants to get back to his feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mitsuyo Maeda. Tuomela lands a jab. Maeda throws a left and a right that both miss
and Tuomela counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maeda avoids the body shot from Tuomela.
Maeda slips a straight right by Tuomela. Maeda shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Maeda shoots in for a takedown but Tuomela shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Maeda closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tuomela circles away. Maeda is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Maeda takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tuomela pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Maeda moves in looking to clinch but Tuomela pushes him off. Raimo Tuomela has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tuomela misses with a straight right. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Maeda shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Maeda was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Tuomela tries to hold on but Maeda pushes him away.
And that's the end of the fight! Raimo Tuomela showed his dominance in that final round. I think Maeda has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
