Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Babsie Paneda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 1, fighting out of London, Roberto Sotto!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sotto throws out a powerful jab.


It looks like Babsie Paneda has been cut.
Sotto throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sotto tries a head kick but it misses.
Paneda misses with a jab, cross combination.

Paneda closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Paneda lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sotto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Paneda defends well.
Paneda slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
A lull in the action here as Paneda stalls from top position.

Paneda has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Sotto gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Paneda to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Paneda seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Paneda stands up from Sotto's guard - Paneda perhaps looking for a knockout.
Sotto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sotto throws a chopping leg kick but Paneda manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Sotto looks gassed!

Paneda gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Paneda jumps into guard, dragging Sotto to the mat.
Paneda is pulling down on Sotto's head to control his posture.
Sotto is looking to work some ground and pound but Paneda has wrist control.
Paneda pulls Sotto in close to his closed guard and prevents Sotto from doing any damage or advancing position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Paneda's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Paneda tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Paneda has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Paneda decides to stand back up. Paneda steps back and let's Sotto get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sotto goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Sotto shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Paneda creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Sotto takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Paneda is staying tight to Sotto's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Paneda has control of Sotto's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sotto regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Paneda bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sotto tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Paneda presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Paneda cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Paneda is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sotto can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
