The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morrenove thows a body shot but no joy.
Morrenove drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Hodge's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hodge is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Morrenove's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dayna Hodge hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Morrenove closes the distance and clinches.
Morrenove is trying to trip Hodge. He has hold of a leg but Hodge is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Morrenove persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Hodge is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Morrenove is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hodge is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hodge throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Morrenove's waist but Morrenove gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hodge off to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Kirkland Morrenove will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Morrenove's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hodge avoids the head kick by Morrenove.
Morrenove shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Morrenove was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kirkland Morrenove overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Morrenove pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
