Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rayan McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shoju Bayushi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bayushi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Masta Killa. Rayan McCarthy could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Shoju Bayushi's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rayan McCarthy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shoju Bayushi! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCarthy cracks Bayushi with a right hand to the side of the head. Bayushi feints and as McCarthy raises his hands in defense, Bayushi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Bayushi landing some decent shots from guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bayushi passes McCarthy's left leg - he's now in half guard. Bayushi is working for a submission of some sort.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Bayushi is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bayushi looks to score some points with some ground and pound. McCarthy pushes Bayushi off looking to stand but Bayushi dives back in and keeps control.

Bayushi working McCarthy over with strikes. Still in half guard, Bayushi seems content to control. McCarthy has hold of Bayushi's hands but Bayushi slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. McCarthy wants to get back to his feet. McCarthy on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bayushi is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bayushi connects with a nice short shot to McCarthy's temple. Bayushi wants to work for an arm triangle but McCarthy is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bayushi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McCarthy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Bayushi seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Bayushi slips a nice elbow through McCarthy's hands, connecting with McCarthy's forehead. Bayushi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McCarthy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bayushi working the head and body with strikes. Bayushi is taking a breather. McCarthy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Bayushi moves nicely into side control. McCarthy takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bayushi is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. McCarthy looks calm but he's in trouble here. Bayushi gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. McCarthy is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Bayushi lets go of the hold and McCarthy can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Shoju Bayushi!
