PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Marsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and jake tylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane Marsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marsh lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Marsh goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

tylor is rocked!

tylor fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Marsh, pushing him back against the cage.
tylor is still on wobbly legs! Can Marsh finish him?
Marsh taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
tylor has had enough of the clinch but Marsh keeps him there for the moment.
Marsh tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
tylor seems to have recovered his senses.
tylor tries for a takedown. No joy.
A body shot lands from tylor.
tylor tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
tylor is pressed up against the cage. Marsh has hold of a leg and is looking to drag tylor down to the mat. tylor avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
tylor misses with a combination
and Marsh counters with a nice low kick that buckles tylor's knee momentarily.
tylor closes the distance but Marsh moves to the side
and Marsh counters with a flying knee. Nice.
A right-left combo lands from Marsh.

Marsh instigates a clinch.
A short right from Marsh.
tylor looks gassed!

Marsh jumps into guard, dragging tylor to the mat.
Marsh trying to control the position.
Marsh is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst tylor is controlling him.
tylor should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

tylor preventing the sweep.
tylor trying to control but Marsh is working from the bottom.

tylor trying to control the position from guard on top but Marsh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Marsh is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst tylor is controlling him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Marsh shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Marsh darts in trying to clinch
enabling tylor to counter with a crisp jab.
Marsh throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Marsh has closed the distance and engaged tylor in a clinch.
Marsh lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt tylor or not.

tylor breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

tylor drives through with a takedown into guard.

Marsh manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Marsh looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Marsh. That's going to take a lot out of him.
tylor drops Marsh with a right and a left! tylor comes rushing in but Marsh regains his composure and manages to keep tylor in guard.

Marsh is rocked!

Marsh looking for submissions from the bottom but instead tylor passes into half guard.
Oh Marsh is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
tylor is thwarting Marsh's attempts to control the position.
Marsh is trying to stand back up but tylor is controlling him

Marsh has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. tylor is working away from the top position though.
Marsh seems to have got his legs back now.
tylor is keen to just control but Marsh is a slippery customer.
Marsh is trying to control but can't.
Marsh is positioning himself well to prevent tylor advancing to mount.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Marsh lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as tylor backs up against the cage.
Marsh shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says tylor as he avoids it easily.

tylor takes the fight into the clinch.

Marsh breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
tylor wants to clinch
and Marsh counters with a low kick, right behind tylor 's knee.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
tylor scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Marsh is trying to get back to full guard.
Marsh looks like he's trying to stand up.

Marsh looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and tylor pushes past his half guard into mount!
Marsh is trying to escape the mount.
Marsh wants to control but tylor is having none of it.
tylor looking to control and managing it successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Marsh is working to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Shane Marsh will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

tylor looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Marsh tries to roll over but tylor keeps him under control.
tylor stops Marsh from getting back to his feet.

Marsh kicks off tylor and gets to his feet.
Marsh throws a series of strikes that have tylor backpedaling.
Crack! A monster head kick from Marsh and tylor falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by Marsh!
