PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Castle's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Slipknot. Juan Sanchez has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Castle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Castle sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sanchez somewhat.
Sanchez motions for Castle to come forward. Sanchez throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Castle tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Sanchez is able to avoid easily.
Castle throws out a leg kick but Sanchez moves out of range and Castle only half commits.
Castle walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Sanchez checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Castle thows a body kick. Sanchez tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Castle connects with an inside leg kick.
Castle fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Sanchez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Castle walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Sanchez checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Sanchez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Castle did well to prevent Sanchez getting side control.
Sanchez is looking to take a break and control but Castle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sanchez is working for a submission of some sort.
Castle wants to improve his position but Sanchez is controlling well.
Castle is refusing to be controlled, as Sanchez sits in half guard.

Sanchez is looking for a kimura but Castle is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sanchez to get the leverage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sanchez wants to pass the guard but Castle is defending well.
Castle tries to kick Sanchez off but Sanchez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Sanchez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Castle has managed to free his arm - good work.
Castle wants to improve his position but Sanchez is controlling well.

Sanchez content to control rather than advance.
Castle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanchez on the ground.

Sanchez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Sanchez has hold of Castle's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Castle manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Sanchez is working for a guillotine from mount but Castle frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Castle is squirming around, avoiding Sanchez's attempts to control the action.

Sanchez jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Castle is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Castle and Sanchez has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Sanchez tries to advance to mount but Castle denies him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sanchez content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Castle leaves Sanchez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Sanchez is looking to clinch but Castle is avoiding it.

Sanchez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Sanchez tries to free his leg and advance position but Castle is retaining full guard.
Castle keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully.

Castle decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Sanchez is looking to clinch.
Castle throws a front kick aimed at Sanchez's knee but Sanchez avoids it well.
Castle is looking to land body kicks.
Sanchez tries to clinch there but Castle circles away.
Castle throws a big shot that misses.
Frank Castle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A head kick misses from Sanchez.
Sanchez throws a body punch but Castle moves out of range.
Castle avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Castle throws a low kick but Sanchez moves out of range easily.
A jab lands there for Castle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Frank Castle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sanchez shoots in and drives through. Castle sprawls well.

Sanchez dives in and scores a takedown into Castle's guard.
Sanchez trying to control but Castle is working from the bottom.
Castle is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sanchez is controlling him.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Juan Sanchez has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Castle throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Sanchez turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Juan Sanchez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sanchez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Castle is trying to defend but Sanchez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Castle is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sanchez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sanchez's back!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Juan Sanchez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Castle sprawls well. Castle wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sanchez gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters circling a little - Castle finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
A clash of legs there as Sanchez blocks the low kick.
Castle throws a body kick that misses.
Sanchez throws a jab when Castle was well out of range.
Castle avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Castle pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Sanchez shoots in for a double leg but Castle sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sanchez on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Castle. Castle obviously looking to wear him down.
Sanchez avoids the head kick by Castle.
Frank Castle is winning the standup battle so far.
Sanchez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Castle scores with a kick to the body.
Castle throws a wild body kick that Sanchez sees coming a mile off.

Sanchez shoots in and gets a takedown into Castle's guard.
Sanchez looking to sit in guard and control but Castle gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Sanchez has his foot on Castle's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Castle works his way back into a safe position though.
Sanchez tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Sanchez looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Castle has picked Sanchez up and slammed him! Sanchez can't keep hold of the triangle and Castle manages to pass to side control!

Castle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sanchez keeps working.

Sanchez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Castle's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

I would just about give that final round to Juan Sanchez.
I've got Sanchez winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
