Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Gibson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Stroud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee Stroud is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Gibson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lee Stroud!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Roberts and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A chopping leg kick lands by Stroud.
Stroud misses with a double jab
and Gibson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Stroud uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gibson.
Gibson ducks right into an uppercut from Stroud.


It looks like Robert Gibson has been cut.
Gibson misses with an uppercut.
Gibson throws a half hearted mid kick.
Gibson looks for the body kick but Stroud saw that one coming.
A combination from Gibson does no damage.
Gibson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Stroud uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gibson.
That kick from Stroud tenderised Gibson's leg. Gibson is trying to keep his angry face on.

Stroud decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stroud is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gibson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stroud.
Gibson wants to control but Stroud is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Stroud takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Gibson has hold of Stroud's hands but Stroud slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Stroud has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gibson is staying active underneath Stroud, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Stroud tries to pass to full mount but Gibson defends it.

Stroud wants to work for an arm triangle but Gibson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Stroud is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gibson is just riding it out for now. Stroud eventually gives up the hold.
Stroud tries to pass to full mount but Gibson defends it.

Stroud is working for a kimura but Gibson is defending it quite comfortably.

Stroud is working for a submission of some sort.
Stroud tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gibson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Gibson wants to get back to his feet.
Stroud wants to take a breather but Gibson is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stroud looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Gibson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Stroud trying to control from half guard but Gibson is working away.

Gibson looks like he's trying to stand up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Lee Stroud hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Stroud scores with a leg kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Stroud.

Stroud looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Gibson!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gibson wants to hold on but Stroud pushes him away.
Gibson can't escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stroud lands a big elbow.
Gibson is in all sorts of trouble here.
Stroud lands a nice shot to the head.


Robert Gibson's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Stroud swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Gibson is now in Stroud's guard. A big mistake from Stroud there, giving up the dominant position!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Stroud dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Robert Gibson's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Stroud shoots in for a double leg but Gibson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Gibson throws a hook but Stroud blocks it.

Stroud walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Gibson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gibson showed some decent athleticism there.
Lee Stroud has got the better of the ground game so far.

Stroud wants to improve his position but Gibson is controlling well.

Stroud looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
