The crowd seem to be enjoying Fernandez's choice of entrance music: Oh My God That's The Greatest Song In The World Ever!! . I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Bolden!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Miguel Fernandez!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That kick from Fernandez tenderised Bolden's leg. Bolden is trying to keep his angry face on.
Fernandez throws a looping overhand right but Bolden ducks down to avoid it.
Bolden connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Bolden avoids a punch combination nicely.
Fernandez dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Miguel Fernandez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bolden gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Fernandez.


It looks like Robert Bolden has been cut.
A jab from Bolden misses.
Bolden displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fernandez throws out the jab.
Fernandez moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fernandez attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Bolden on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Fernandez. Fernandez obviously looking to wear him down.
Fernandez takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Fernandez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Fernandez moves out of range of the strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fernandez slips a straight right by Bolden.
Bolden swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Bolden slips a jab from Fernandez.
Bolden scores with a jab to the head.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bolden.
Bolden misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Fernandez moves into the clinch successfully.

Bolden manages to break the clinch.
Fernandez tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Bolden is able to avoid easily.
Fernandez ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Fernandez throws a chopping leg kick but Bolden manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Miguel Fernandez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fernandez missing with a left hand there. Bolden was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Bolden scores with a jab. Fernandez acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Bolden throws a right hand that Fernandez ducks under and follows up with a left that Fernandez also avoids with ease.
Bolden looks to score with a jab to the body but Fernandez is just out of range.

Fernandez drops Bolden with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Bolden looks back up at him and smiles so Fernandez waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Bolden is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fernandez fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Oh Bolden is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Fernandez moves into the clinch.
Bolden jumps guard but Fernandez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Bolden. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fernandez scores with a hook to the body.
Bolden is breathing heavily.
Fernandez pushes Bolden against the cage. Fernandez is working some dirty boxing. Fernandez pushes off with a quick right hook! Bolden goes down! Bolden tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Fernandez moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Miguel Fernandez! Miguel Fernandez retains his light heavyweight title!
In his post fight interview, Miguel Fernandez started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
