Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Will Rook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rook comes into the arena with Shinedown-Simple Man blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Will Rook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chuck Liddell!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell takes a swing at Rook's ribcage but misses.
Rook misses with a body kick.
Rook looking to land some kicks to the body here.
No joy there for Liddell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rook throws out a leg kick but Liddell moves out of range and Rook only half commits.
Rook feints and then cracks Liddell's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Liddell down.
Liddell lands a right hook to the body.
Liddell wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Liddell fails to land with a series of punches.
Liddell just misses with a punch to the body.
Liddell avoids a kick to the body.
Liddell misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rook throws a low kick but Liddell moves out of range easily.
Liddell misses with a wild combination.
Liddell takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rook throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Liddell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rook manages to avoid it.

Rook drives through and clinches with Liddell against the cage.
Liddell managing to block the knees to the body from Rook.
Rook is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Liddell is defending well for now.
Liddell misses with a hook from the clinch.
Rook putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Liddell in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Rook is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Liddell can't fight it off and eventually Rook manages to take the fight to the floor. Liddell looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rook trying to control the position from guard on top but Liddell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Rook might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Rook wants to pass the guard but Liddell is keeping the position.

Rook keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Liddell's head.
Rook throws a big elbow that misses.
Rook with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Rook loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Rook sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Liddell's guard.
Liddell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rook. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Liddell keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Rook working Liddell over with strikes.
Rook thows a huge punch but Liddell dodges it nicely.
Rook not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Rook throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Rook looks to land a strike but Liddell avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rook is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rook trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Liddell is on top in guard.
Rook is pulling down on Liddell's head to control his posture.
Rook tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Liddell sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rook has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Will Rook.
Rook is looking to slow Liddell down with leg kicks.
Rook throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Rook has closed the distance and engaged Liddell in a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rook landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Liddell takes a knee right on the jaw!
Liddell looks gassed!

Liddell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Will Rook dominated that round.
That's time! Rook's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Ouch! a nice leg kick from Rook, right into the meat.
Chuck Liddell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Liddell avoids the head kick by Rook.
Chuck Liddell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rook throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Rook misses with a head kick.
Rook uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Liddell.
Rook's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Liddell connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rook scrambles back to his feet.
Rook tries to land a front kick but Liddell steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Liddell shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rook misses with a low kick as Liddell jumps back.

Liddell gets tackled into the cage by Rook. Rook maintains the clinch.
Rook prevents a body shot from Liddell.
Rook unloads a knee to the mid-section. Liddell lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Liddell blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Liddell is breathing heavily.
Liddell takes a knee to the side of the body.
Liddell is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Rook landing knees to the body.
Rook tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Liddell avoids it.

Rook scores a nice knee to the body.
Rook lands a good knee to the midsection. Liddell won't want to take too many of those.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rook lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Rook drops an elbow to the side of Liddell's head.
Rook not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Rook throwing shots but Liddell is blocking nicely.
Rook moves into full mount! Liddell won't be happy about that!
Rook landing strikes from the mount and Liddell is in trouble!

Rook lands a heavy elbow.
Rook looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Rook lands a big shot to the head and Liddell winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Will Rook!
A less than humble Will Rook misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
