PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juliano Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Haggler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Junior's entrance music is Soulfly - Brasil. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Haggler shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Junior is squirming around, avoiding Haggler's attempts to control the action.
Junior is looking to get to half guard.
Haggler tries to control but Junior wriggling away.
Junior regains half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Junior manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Junior wants to sweep but no luck.
Haggler wants to control from the top but Junior keeps moving.

Haggler avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Junior is looking for a triangle but Haggler pushes his legs off easily.

Haggler throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Junior works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Haggler decides to stand and escape the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

so Haggler counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Haggler is looking to stand up but Junior won't let him.
Haggler passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Junior manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Haggler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Junior. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Junior is pressing down on Haggler's thigh, looking to free his foot. Haggler is holding on for now.

Junior seems to be looking for submissions.
Haggler pushes Junior off looking to stand but Junior dives back in and keeps control.

Haggler is trying to control Junior's posture but Junior avoids it.

Junior goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Haggler has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Junior but great work by Haggler.

Haggler decides to take the fight back to the feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Junior is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Junior is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Haggler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Junior bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Haggler's guard.

Junior is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Haggler is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Haggler has escaped and now he's on top!

and Junior counters with a nice double leg into side control. Haggler won't be happy with that.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Junior is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Haggler has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Juliano Junior will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Junior avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Haggler drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Haggler lying in Junior's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Junior decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Haggler taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
