Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jamey Jasta! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Omar Cabbab! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jasta misses with the combination.
Some wild striking there from Jasta.
Jasta looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Jasta swinging wilding here.
Jasta throws a series of punches but Cabbab avoids them all with ease. Some wild striking there from Jasta.
Jasta throws a right hand that Cabbab ducks under and follows up with a left that Cabbab also avoids with ease. Cabbab shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Cabbab stands and steps away. Jasta gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Jasta throws a series of punches but Cabbab avoids them all with ease. Cabbab bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Jasta is trying to get back to half guard. Cabbab stands up and beckons Jasta to his feet. Cabbab looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cabbab connects with a nice short shot to Jasta's temple. Jasta wants to get back to full guard. Jasta wants to get back to his feet.
Jasta is breathing heavily. Cabbab working Jasta over with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jasta wants to get back to his feet. Ground and pound from Cabbab. Cabbab slips a nice elbow through Jasta's hands, connecting with Jasta's forehead. Jasta wants to get back to his feet. Cabbab scoring with strikes to the body and head. Cabbab escapes and gets back to his feet. Jamey Jasta is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Cabbab shoots in and bounces Jasta off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Cabbab has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Cabbab preventing the sweep. Cabbab is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Jasta is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Jasta wants to sweep but no luck. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cabbab loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Jasta looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cabbab is one step ahead there. Cabbab working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jasta's head.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. A big right followed by a crushing left from Jasta knocks Cabbab out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
