Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Jamiroquai - Deeper Underground. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Demian Maia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Maia gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Diaz.
Maia uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Diaz.
A right-left combo lands from Diaz.
Maia takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Maia takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Diaz sizes up Maia with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Maia scores with a takedown into Diaz's guard.
Maia prevents Diaz from getting back to his feet.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Maia tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard.

Maia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Maia slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Maia shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Maia was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We're going to have a standup here because Demian Maia wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Diaz throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Maia walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Maia takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Maia sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Diaz thuds his right hand into Maia's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Diaz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Diaz misses with a hook. Maia ducked under it nicely.
Diaz connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Maia needs to keep his hands up - Diaz had a free shot at his head there.
Jose Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Maia has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Diaz finds it's way round the side to connect with Maia's head.

Maia decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Maia is taking a breather. Diaz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Demian Maia overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz is trying to stand.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Maia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diaz keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Demian Maia just wasn't active enough.

Diaz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Diaz rushes Maia and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

It looks like Demian Maia has been cut.
Diaz throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Maia blocks it with crossed arms.

Diaz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Diaz lands a jab.
Diaz throws a sloppy head kick and Maia moves out of range easily.

Diaz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Maia was covering up waiting for the punch and Diaz finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maia swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Maia might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Diaz seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Diaz throws a looping overhand right but Maia ducks down to avoid it.
Diaz throws a head kick that Maia semi-blocks.
Diaz stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Maia staying out of range there.
Diaz throws a big shot that misses.
Diaz lands with a right hand.
Maia walks into a left hand.
Diaz with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Diaz wants to land a leg kick but Maia is out of range.
Diaz lands with a good body shot.
Demian Maia has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Diaz fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jose Diaz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Diaz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
