PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ash Sanguine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stock Pile (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ash Sanguine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stock Pile!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanguine fails with a takedown attempt.

Pile shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Sanguine tries to roll over but Pile keeps him under control.
Sanguine moves into full guard.
Pile looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Sanguine is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sanguine doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Sanguine is pulling down on Pile's head to control his posture.

Pile is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sanguine is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Pile must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Pile stays in close to Sanguine's body and controls the position.
Pile really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanguine. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pile wanted to stand there but Sanguine had control of the position.

Sanguine has his foot on Pile's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pile works his way back into a safe position though.
Pile wants to control from the top but Sanguine keeps moving.

Sanguine looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Pile trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanguine is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sanguine has a closed guard, preventing Pile from standing up.

Sanguine working for a triangle but Pile defends it easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pile trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Pile controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pile trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanguine is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Stock Pile was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Pile shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sanguine manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Sanguine escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pile gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sanguine trying to keep a closed guard but Pile is proving a slippery customer.

Pile working some strikes from top position.
Pile stays in close to Sanguine's body and controls the position.

Sanguine is working an open guard so Pile takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Sanguine fails to land the takedown.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pile looking to score a takedown here. Sanguine is defending well but Pile drives through and ends up in Sanguine's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sanguine looking for a sweep. Not yet Sanguine, not yet.
Pile is in close to Sanguine's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Pile trying to control but Sanguine is working from the bottom.

No luck for Sanguine with that takedown attempt.

Pile feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Pile stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanguine swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sanguine is looking for a triangle here but Pile uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Pile is putting a hurting on Sanguine here, landing some big shots from side control.
Sanguine wants to control but Pile postures up.
Pile trying to control the action but Sanguine is working from the bottom.

Pile thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sanguine manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pile's best efforts.
Pile wants to free his trapped foot but Sanguine is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Sanguine tries to roll over but Pile keeps him under control.
Sanguine is trying to control but can't.

Pile moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Sanguine.
Pile cracks Sanguine with a big elbow.
Pile wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sanguine keeps working.
Sanguine manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Sanguine is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pile doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sanguine.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pile is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sanguine's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sanguine's back!

Sanguine is keeping busy.
Pile is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Pile is looking for the choke from the back position but Sanguine is controlling his hands well.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
You can see the frustration on Sanguine's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Sanguine prevents Pile from getting a body triangle.

Sanguine wants to control his opponent's hands but Pile gets his hands free.
Sanguine looking very determined here, making life difficult for Pile.

Sanguine breaks Pile's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Stock Pile has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pile wants to sweep but no luck.

Pile has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sanguine is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Pile.

Stock Pile showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Pile got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sanguine has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pile has managed to get both his arms back between Sanguine's legs - danger averted.

Sanguine is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Sanguine is trying to keep Pile in close.
Sanguine looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Sanguine keeping moving, preventing Pile from controlling successfully.
Pile postures up.
Pile works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Pile trying to control the pace.
Sanguine trying to hold on to Pile's head to control him but Pile postures up.

Pile thows a huge punch but Sanguine dodges it nicely.
Pile is thwarting Sanguine's attempts to control the position.
It looks like Pile is going to stand back up.
Sanguine has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pile is working away from the top position though.

Sanguine is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pile pulls his head out easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pile is looking to advance position but Sanguine won't allow it.
Pile stalling.

Pile working Sanguine over with strikes.
Sanguine wants to control but Pile is keeping busy.
Sanguine is pressing down on Pile's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Pile wants to control from the top but Sanguine keeps moving.
Pile stays in close to Sanguine's body and controls the position.
Pile looking to sit in guard and control but Sanguine gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pile can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sanguine advances position into side control!

Sanguine tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sanguine has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Pile gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Pile trying to control here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sanguine seems to be working for a kimura but Pile defends the submission attempt.
Ash Sanguine has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Stock Pile is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Sanguine seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Stock Pile.
Well Pile has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
