Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Don Geronimo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Darnielle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Geronimo comes to the cage accompanied by "War," by Edwin Starr. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darnielle is looking to land body kicks.
Darnielle throws a body punch but Geronimo moves out of range.
Darnielle throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Geronimo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Darnielle sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Darnielle lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Some bone on bone action there as Geronimo checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Geronimo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Darnielle tries to avoid it but Geronimo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Darnielle to the ground. Darnielle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Geronimo moves out of range of the body kick from Darnielle.

Darnielle throws a low kick but it's checked well by Geronimo.
Darnielle throws a push kick but Geronimo slaps the foot to one side.
Geronimo moves out of range of the body kick from Darnielle.
Geronimo takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Geronimo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Darnielle manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Darnielle lands a front kick.
Geronimo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Darnielle tries to avoid it but Geronimo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Darnielle to the ground. Darnielle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Don Geronimo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Darnielle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Geronimo moves away.
Geronimo is looking to clinch.

Geronimo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Darnielle is trying to maintain the position but Geronimo is very close to passing his half guard.
Geronimo is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Darnielle manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Geronimo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Darnielle is just riding it out for now. Geronimo eventually gives up the hold.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

A close round but John Darnielle will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Geronimo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Geronimo.

Darnielle controls Geronimo momentarily but Geronimo frees himself.
Geronimo tries to free his leg and advance position but Darnielle is retaining full guard.
Geronimo passes into half guard.
Geronimo is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Darnielle wants to stand but Geronimo is controlling his posture from full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
We're going to have a standup here because Don Geronimo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Darnielle throws a lazy right hand but Geronimo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Darnielle throws the kick towards the body but Geronimo avoids it.
Darnielle throws a head kick that misses.
Geronimo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Geronimo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Darnielle's waist but Darnielle gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Geronimo off to one side.
Geronimo throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Darnielle tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Geronimo is in Darnielle's guard.

Geronimo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Darnielle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Geronimo has managed to get both his arms back between Darnielle's legs - danger averted.
Darnielle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Geronimo is one step ahead there.

Geronimo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Darnielle's guard.
