PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Durden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dominic Belstead (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Durden's entrance music is Pride . A fine choice. The crowd seem to be enjoying Belstead's choice of entrance music: Papa Roach - Last Resort. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tyler Durden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dominic Belstead!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durden lands a head kick!
Durden wants to clinch up but Belstead keeps it at a distance.
Durden tries to close the distance and clinch but Belstead swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
No luck for Belstead with that takedown attempt.
Durden dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Belstead. That did some damage!

and Belstead counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Belstead throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Durden is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Belstead is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Belstead is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Durden pulls Belstead in close to prevent any damage.
Belstead is looking to work some ground and pound but Durden has wrist control.

Belstead drops back, looking for a kneebar! Durden looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Durden looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Durden!
Belstead is looking for a sweep.
Belstead is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

Belstead is trying to improve his position.

Belstead explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Durden lands with a nice body kick.
Durden lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Durden tries to clinch up but Belstead circles away and keeps his distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Durden lands a nice looking kick to the body. Belstead takes a step back to recover.

Durden lands a nice leg kick that just misses Belstead's sensitive parts.
Tyler Durden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Durden throws a leg kick but Belstead sees it coming and moves out of range.
Belstead tried to score with a low kick but Durden checks it.
Durden fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Belstead.
Durden lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Durden connects with a solid leg kick.
Durden tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Belstead paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tyler Durden is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Durden wants to clinch but Belstead slips to the side
and Belstead counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
A chopping leg kick lands by Durden.
Belstead fails to land the takedown.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Durden instigates a clinch.

Belstead is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Durden is defending well.
Tyler Durden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dominic Belstead.
Belstead goes for a takedown in the clinch but Durden prevents it.

Belstead jumps guard.
Durden has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Durden trying to control but Belstead is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Belstead has his foot on Durden's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Durden works his way back into a safe position though.
Belstead wants to sweep here but Durden controlling him for the moment.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Belstead manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyler Durden dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Durden lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Durden gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Durden is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Belstead tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Belstead is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Durden pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Durden creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Durden just misses with a elbow thrown towards Belstead's brow.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Durden throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Belstead drops down looking for an ankle pick but Durden pulls his leg out and moves away.

Belstead drives through with a takedown into guard.

Belstead drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Belstead jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Belstead trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Belstead advances position into side control!
Durden is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Durden prevents Belstead from improving position.
Belstead gets to mount! Durden was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Durden is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Belstead wants to control the pace but Durden is squirming around nicely.

Belstead working for a submission but Durden is keeping him at bay.

Belstead has control of Durden's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Durden regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Belstead wants to finish this one by submission but Durden is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Belstead.
Durden is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Durden is desperately trying to improve his position but Belstead has a good base and remains in mount.
Durden wants to hold on but Belstead pushes him away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Belstead working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Belstead is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Durden is in real trouble.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dominic Belstead showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Durden throws a right and a left that both miss.
Durden tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Belstead uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Durden.
Durden misses with a two punch combination.
Durden tries to clinch but Belstead is having none of it.
Durden tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Durden does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Durden tries to close the distance and clinch up but Belstead swats him away and circles back towards the center.

so Belstead counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Belstead drops back looking for a leg! Durden is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Durden manages to kick Belstead off! Belstead jumps back into Durden's guard.

Durden scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Belstead blocks a leg kick.

Belstead manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Durden on his heels. He'll look to pass Durden's guard now, I'm sure.
Durden keeping moving, preventing Belstead from controlling successfully.

Belstead drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Durden manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Belstead has Durden in his guard.
Durden stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Belstead swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Belstead wants to sweep here but Durden controlling him for the moment.

Belstead has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Durden should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Belstead has tightened it up now! Durden should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dominic Belstead!
During a confident post fight interview, Dominic Belstead thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
