Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Drysdale! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Mix! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drysdale slaps away a takedown attempt from Mix, before circling back to the center of the mat. Drysdale closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mix's guard. Mix will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Mix throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Drysdale wants to control from the top but Mix keeps moving. Mix really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Drysdale. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mix holds on and takes a little breather. Mix looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Drysdale has picked Mix up and slammed him! Mix can't keep hold of the triangle and Drysdale manages to pass to side control! Mix is looking to reverse the position. Mix tries to strike from the bottom but misses. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Mix looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Drysdale drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mix dives on top into guard. Drysdale trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mix throws an elbow that misses. Drysdale uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mix's guard. Nice move by Drysdale! Mix is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Drysdale dives into side control.

Drysdale feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Mix trying to keep a closed guard but Drysdale is proving a slippery customer.

Drysdale connects with a big shot to the side of Mix's head.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Drysdale jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Drysdale looking to sit in guard and control but Mix gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mix wants to stand and escape but instead Drysdale has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Drysdale is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Dave Mix has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mix is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions.
