Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Scott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shuuji Hanamoto! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hanamoto shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Scott is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Hanamoto controlling his opponent. Scott can't escape the position.
Hanamoto controlling from the full mount. Scott is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hanamoto controlling the position easily from mount. Scott is looking to get to half guard. Scott wants to control but Hanamoto is having none of it. Hanamoto takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Scott is trying desperately to improve position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scott is trying to escape the mount but Hanamoto keeps good control and instead manages to take Scott's back.
Scott just trying to survive but Hanamoto is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Scott manages to reverse the position and now he's in Hanamoto's guard. Nice work there by Scott.
Scott postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Scott postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Scott trying to control but Hanamoto is working from the bottom. Scott won't allow Hanamoto to get back to his feet. Hanamoto pushes Scott off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanamoto gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Hanamoto looks for a takedown but Scott sprawls well. Scott swings and misses with a shot to the body and Hanamoto counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Scott! Hanamoto takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Scott keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hanamoto manages to capitalize on a mistake by Scott to take his back! Scott rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hanamoto controlling the pace. Scott is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hanamoto's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hanamoto's back! Scott is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Hanamoto is defending well though. Scott let's go of the attempt for now.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Hanamoto controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Hanamoto is in bad spot here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Scott punches Hanamoto on the ear. Scott lands punches and elbows. Hanamoto tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Scott throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Hanamoto tries to reverse the position but Scott maintains control. Scott controlling the pace for now.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Hanamoto really wants to buck Scott off and get back to his feet. Scott throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Hanamoto tries to buck Scott off but he can't manage it. Hanamoto tries to hold on but Scott pushes him away. Scott wants to control the pace but Hanamoto is squirming around nicely. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Scott controlling from mount. Scott working the ground and pound effectively.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Scott punishing his opponent with strikes. Hanamoto throwing hammer fists to the chest of Scott. What's that going to do exactly? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Scott avoids the attempt from Hanamoto to control. Hanamoto tries to reverse the position but Scott maintains control. Feeble punches landing from Hanamoto - he's mounted - they can't hurt. Scott looking to secure an arm triangle but Hanamoto defends it well. Scott throwing strikes here but Hanamoto is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Hanamoto really wants to buck Scott off and get back to his feet. Hanamoto is squirming around, avoiding Scott's attempts to control the action. Hanamoto is looking to improve his position but Scott isn't that keen on the idea. Hanamoto throwing hammer fists to the chest of Scott. What's that going to do exactly? Scott tries to control but Hanamoto wriggling away. Scott in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Scott throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Scott can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hanamoto is looking to escape. Scott throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Hanamoto wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Scott.
Hanamoto is looking to improve his position but Scott isn't that keen on the idea. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Scott throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Michael Scott will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
A combination from Scott does no damage. Hanamoto closes the distance and pushes Scott back into the cage. Hanamoto is struggling to control the position. Scott is working for takedown but Hanamoto is calmly controlling the position for now. Hanamoto jumps guard.
Scott stops Hanamoto from standing up. Hanamoto throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Scott sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hanamoto's guard. Scott looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hanamoto pushes Scott off looking to stand but Scott dives back in and keeps control.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Scott lands a nice short elbow. Scott missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Hanamoto is staying active underneath Scott, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Scott is pressing down on Hanamoto's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hanamoto is holding on for now. Hanamoto is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Scott pulls his head out easily. Hanamoto is looking to control Scott's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hanamoto avoid being mounted?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scott trying to control the pace. Scott stops Hanamoto from getting back to his feet.
Scott moves into full mount! Hanamoto won't be happy about that! Scott controlling from mount. Hanamoto is trying to stand up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanamoto wants to hold on but Scott pushes him away. Scott trying to control but he's not successful this time. Hanamoto is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Hanamoto throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Scott is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hanamoto is surviving well by controlling Scott's body position as best he can. Scott looking to ground and pound but Hanamoto is blocking nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scott looking to control but Hanamoto is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Hanamoto holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Scott tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Scott wants to control the pace but Hanamoto is squirming around nicely. Scott jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hanamoto manages to avoid the submission attempt. Hanamoto wants to get back to his feet but Scott is dominant here and he's now got Hanamoto's back!
That's five minutes gone in the round. Scott trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Scott has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Hanamoto manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position. Good standup being displayed there by Scott as he connects with a hook. Scott wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Hanamoto uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Scott.
Hanamoto shoots in but Scott avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Scott rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Hanamoto counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hanamoto. Hanamoto has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Scott uses from the top position. Scott trying to control the position from guard on top but Hanamoto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Scott is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hanamoto is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Scott postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Scott throws a big elbow that misses. Scott looking to pass the guard.

Scott slips nicely into half guard. Scott passes the guard and advances to mount! Hanamoto tries to hold on but Scott postures up. Hanamoto swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Hanamoto reaches up to try and control the position but Scott seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Hanamoto rolls and tries to escape and now Scott has his back!
Hanamoto is trying to stand back up. Scott is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Hanamoto. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. Scott lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Hanamoto is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Scott off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Hanamoto is trying to get back to his feet but Scott has full control of the position and if anything, Hanamoto has just worked his way into a worse spot. Michael Scott overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. This has been an exciting period of action! Scott connects with a big shot to the side of Hanamoto's head.

Hanamoto covering up well under a barage of strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Scott thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. Hanamoto has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
And that's the end of the fight! Michael Scott showed his dominance in that final round. I think Scott has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
