Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dwight Elkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tariq Ziyad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Elkins comes to the cage accompanied by Care Bear Countdown. Dwight Elkins has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ziyad throws the kick towards the body but Elkins avoids it.
Ziyad gets caught napping as Elkins dives in and scores a takedown. Ziyad manages to retain guard.
Elkins won't allow Ziyad to sweep him here.
Elkins looking to sit in guard and control but Ziyad gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ziyad is trying to control the position but Elkins postures up.
Ziyad working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Elkins doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Elkins manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close round but I would say that Dwight Elkins will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

so Ziyad counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Ziyad is looking to work some ground and pound but Elkins has wrist control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ziyad changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Elkins tries to avoid it but Ziyad manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Elkins to the ground. Elkins escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ziyad feints and then cracks Elkins's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Elkins down.

Elkins pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Elkins shoots in for a takedown but Ziyad shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Elkins throws a sloppy head kick and Ziyad moves out of range easily.

and Ziyad counters with a solid body kick.
Ziyad pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Elkins lands with a hook. Ziyad tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Ziyad drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ziyad has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Ziyad tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ziyad has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ziyad lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Elkins down.
Ziyad goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Elkins rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Ziyad's guard! Nice work there by Elkins!

Elkins drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ziyad looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ziyad looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ziyad!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Ziyad shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Elkins as he jumps to the side.
Ziyad throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Elkins fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ziyad looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Elkins shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Elkins was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ziyad is wriggling around trying to escape.

Elkins lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Tariq Ziyad has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ziyad tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Elkins with shots to the head and body - Ziyad looks very uncomfortable down there.
