PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Noah King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think King might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Killing in the name. Igor Gracie will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Noah King!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Igor Gracie !
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King shoots in looking for a takedown. Gracie tries to sprawl out of it but King keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gracie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

King changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gracie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Gracie 's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Gracie gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

King is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Gracie has managed to free his arm - good work.
Gracie lands a couple of sideways elbows.
King blocks the strikes from Gracie .

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. King gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

King is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gracie is on top in guard.

King keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. King swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie works his foot free and advances to mount.

King slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Gracie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

King is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Gracie pulls his head out easily.
King wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy and won't allow it.
King is breathing heavily.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

King gets a takedown into half guard.

Gracie wants to control but King is keeping busy and won't allow it.

King is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Gracie wants to sweep here but King controlling him for the moment.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gracie holds on and takes a little breather.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gracie is on top in guard.

King working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gracie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gracie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fight stays on the outside here - King looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Noah King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King closes the distance and clinches up with Gracie , looking for a takedown. King pushes Gracie against the cage but Gracie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

BOOM! Gracie connects with a massive shot to the dome!
King tries to hold on but Gracie postures up.

Gracie has control of King's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and King regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Gracie wants to control the pace but King is squirming around nicely.
King prevents Gracie from taking his back.

Gracie stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

and Gracie counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Gracie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

King had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gracie is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. King Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gracie 's back instead.
King somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Gracie is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
