Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamarcus Hard! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Marak! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hard tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Hard swinging wilding here.
Hard swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Marak looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Marak works a leg free and moves into half guard. Marak throwing shots but Hard is blocking nicely. Hard wants to get back to his feet.
Marak is looking to pass Hard's guard but actually Hard recovers to full guard. Marak wants to pass the guard but Hard is keeping the position. Marak slips nicely into half guard. Hard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Marak on the ground. Hard is trying to stand back up but Marak is controlling him
Hard is refusing to be controlled, as Marak sits in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marak is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Hard has managed to free his arm - good work. Hard looks like he's trying to stand up.
Marak wants to pass to mount but Hard is defending the position. Marak passes the guard and advances to mount! Hard is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marak controlling the pace for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Marak lands a big shot there that rocks Hard but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Hard is breathing heavily. Marak is in the full mount, landing strikes. Hard is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Marak has hold of Hard's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hard manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Marak has control of Hard's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hard regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Marak goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Hard is on top in guard.

Marak can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hard is looking to escape. Hard takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Marak with a couple of short strikes.
It looks like Jamarcus Hard has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Marak trying to control but he's not successful this time. Marak in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Max Marak dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jamarcus Hard's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Marak changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hard looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Hard can't do much from the bottom here. Hard holding on. Hard wants to control but Marak postures up. Marak is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hard is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Marak tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Hard wants to get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hard looks to land a left hand but Marak moved out of range nicely. Marak is breathing heavily. Marak scores a takedown into full mount! Hard tries to get back to half guard but can't. Max Marak has got the better of the ground game so far. Hard is squirming around, avoiding Marak's attempts to control the action. Marak looking to ground and pound but Hard is blocking nicely. Hard's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Marak has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Marak trying to control but Hard is having none of it. Hard tries to hold on but Marak postures up. Hard is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Marak punching from mount but Hard doing a good job of avoiding damage. Hard tries to buck Marak off but he can't manage it. Marak is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Hard is forced to tap! Great finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Max Marak! Max Marak retains his light heavyweight title!
