PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dexter Fabree (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vito Ferrari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fabree comes to the cage accompanied by Flo Rida - Good Feeling. Vito Ferrari will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dexter Fabree!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vito Ferrari!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferrari tries to clinch but Fabree is having none of it.
Ferrari cracks Fabree with a right hand to the side of the head.
Ferrari misses the shot to the body.

Fabree drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Fabree landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Fabree controlling from side mount.

Fabree tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Ferrari is trying to get back to half guard.
Fabree creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ferrari sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Ferrari manages to get back to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fabree tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ferrari knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Ferrari gets full guard.
Fabree trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Fabree stops Ferrari from standing up.
Ferrari utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Fabree trying to control the position from guard on top but Ferrari is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fabree with a flurry of punches that miss.
Fabree trying to control but Ferrari is working from the bottom.
Ferrari wants to stand but Fabree is controlling the position.

Fabree has gone for a leg lock! Ferrari slips out almost immediately though and dives into Fabree's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fabree wants to sweep here but Ferrari controlling him for the moment.
Ferrari postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Fabree looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ferrari is one step ahead there.
Fabree wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Ferrari tries to stand but Fabree is controlling from the bottom.
Ferrari wants to pass the guard but Fabree is keeping the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ferrari gets to his feet - Fabree follows without any prompting.

Vito Ferrari seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ferrari throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Fabree's head.


It looks like Dexter Fabree has been cut.

Fabree changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ferrari looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The strikes coming from Fabree are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Fabree lands a decent elbow from side control.
Fabree throws an elbow but Ferrari slips to the side and avoids it well.
Fabree working the head and body with strikes.
Fabree tries to score with some ground and pound. Ferrari controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Ferrari is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Fabree looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Ferrari is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Fabree's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Fabree's back!
Ferrari is riding his opponent, not letting Fabree buck him off.
Ferrari has the hooks in. Fabree is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Ferrari wants to control but Fabree is keeping busy.
Fabree can't escape the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fabree breaks Ferrari's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Fabree throws a strike but Ferrari rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Ferrari trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Fabree has a closed guard, preventing Ferrari from standing up.
Fabree has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Fabree pulls Ferrari in close to prevent any damage.

Fabree kicks Ferrari off and gets to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Ferrari displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fabree.

Fabree feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fabree postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Fabree loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Ferrari is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ferrari bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fabree's guard.

Ferrari tests Fabree's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A slapping leg kick lands for Ferrari.
Fabree fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ferrari connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Vito Ferrari is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Good leg kick by Ferrari there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Ferrari lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ferrari.
Ferrari throws a sloppy head kick and Fabree moves out of range easily.

Ferrari is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Ferrari.
Fabree fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dexter Fabree. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fabree takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Ferrari scores with a crisp jab that stopped Fabree in his tracks.


Fabree is rocked!
Fabree walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Ferrari! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Vito Ferrari! Vito Ferrari retains his featherweight title!
