PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Isaiah Pineda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deshawn Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pineda comes into the arena with yeah blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Isaiah Pineda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Deshawn Martin!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martin gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Pineda on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Martin trying to control the action but Pineda is working from the bottom.
Pineda is trying to get back to full guard.
Pineda flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Martin performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Pineda is trying to maintain the position but Martin is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martin missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pineda is controlling Martin's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Martin tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Pineda gets full guard.
Pineda working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Martin.
Pineda can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Martin controls the pace.
Martin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pineda works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Martin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Pineda is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Martin defends well.

Martin gets to his feet - Pineda follows without any prompting.
Nice jab there from Pineda.
Pineda fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Martin shoots in and drives through. Pineda sprawls well.
Pineda wants to clinch.
Martin takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Martin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Martin fails with an attempt to clinch.

Martin scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Pineda wants to control but Martin postures up.
Pineda is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Martin has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Pineda is breathing heavily.
Martin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pineda keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Pineda's face as Martin controls the position.

Martin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Martin swings around for an armbar but Pineda sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Martin's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Martin is on top in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Martin trying to control the position from guard on top but Pineda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pineda has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Martin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Deshawn Martin dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Martin drives through and clinches with Pineda against the cage.

Martin successfully pulls guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Martin is on top in guard.
Martin stops Pineda from standing up.
Pineda trying to control the position.
Martin wants to pass the guard but Pineda is keeping the position.
Pineda wants to stand but Martin is controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Martin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Martin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pineda swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pineda stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pineda wants it to stay on the feet.
A head kick misses from Pineda.

Martin shoots in and bounces Pineda off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Martin gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Pineda closes the distance and pushes Martin back into the cage.
Pineda jumps guard but Martin turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Pineda wants to break free but Martin has control.

Martin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pineda shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Martin counters with a takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pineda is looking to reverse the position.

Martin has hold of Pineda's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Pineda seems comfortable defending it but Martin has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Pineda is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Pineda is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Martin couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Deshawn Martin!
Post fight, an emotional Deshawn Martin said 'Thanks Everybody for your support now i think i'm about ready for a title shot'.
