The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Deane drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
Patterson is trying to keep Deane in close.
Patterson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Deane controls the pace.
Deane sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Patterson's guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Deane passes the guard and advances to mount!

Deane with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Patterson tries to lock up and control but Deane gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Deane is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Patterson has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Patterson is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Deane locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Patterson is forced to tap!
