PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Klinkhammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cote comes to the cage accompanied by For Those About To Rock - ACDC. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Cote!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roberto Klinkhammer!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klinkhammer throws a right hand that Cote ducks under and follows up with a left that Cote also avoids with ease.

Klinkhammer closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Klinkhammer lands in his opponent's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Klinkhammer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cote works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Klinkhammer controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Klinkhammer in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Klinkhammer working some strikes from top position.
Cote is trying to control the position but Klinkhammer postures up.
Cote is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Klinkhammer is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Klinkhammer slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Klinkhammer throws a strike but Cote rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Klinkhammer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cote is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Klinkhammer tries to get to full guard but Cote has control of the leg.
Cote frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Klinkhammer is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Klinkhammer wants to try and get back to his feet.

Cote is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Klinkhammer can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Klinkhammer tries to lock up and control but Cote gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Cote has control of Klinkhammer's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Klinkhammer regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cote has control of Klinkhammer's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Klinkhammer regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Cote has hold of Klinkhammer's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Klinkhammer manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Cote goes for an armbar but Klinkhammer turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Klinkhammer.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Klinkhammer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cote moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Klinkhammer closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cote's guard.
Klinkhammer is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Cote has momentary wrist control but Klinkhammer slips an elbow through the middle.

Klinkhammer has gone for a leg lock! Cote slips out almost immediately though and dives into Klinkhammer's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Klinkhammer can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cote tries to free his leg and advance position but Klinkhammer is retaining full guard.

Cote drops back, looking for a kneebar! Klinkhammer looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Klinkhammer looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Klinkhammer!

Klinkhammer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cote keeps working.
Klinkhammer connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cote some visible discomfort.

Klinkhammer seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Cote is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Klinkhammer has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Klinkhammer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cote. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like Chris Cote has been cut.
Cote is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Cote throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Klinkhammer's waist but Klinkhammer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cote off to one side.

Klinkhammer drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cote gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Cote uses his free foot to push down on Klinkhammer's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Klinkhammer.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chris Cote.
Well Klinkhammer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
