Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Patrick O Sullivan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Omaha Steak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). O Sullivan comes into the arena with Dropkick Murphys--shipping up to boston blaring out of the sound system. Steak is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: What I've Done . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Patrick O Sullivan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Omaha Steak!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from O Sullivan as Steak shoots in.
Steak slips a straight right by O Sullivan.
O Sullivan misses with a hook.
O Sullivan misses with a looping left.
Steak showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from O Sullivan.
O Sullivan changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
O Sullivan throws a looping overhand right but Steak ducks down to avoid it.

Steak shoots in and gets a takedown into O Sullivan's guard.
O Sullivan wants to stand up but Steak is controlling him.
O Sullivan tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Steak stands and steps away. O Sullivan gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Steak throws a head kick but O Sullivan moves out of range.
Steak moves away from the strike by O Sullivan.
O Sullivan tries to bum rush Steak with a series of wild strikes but Steak uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Steak fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Steak looks for a takedown but O Sullivan sprawls well.
Patrick O Sullivan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Omaha Steak.

O Sullivan throws a nice looking combination but Steak bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Steak buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Steak moves into the clinch.
O Sullivan has had enough of the clinch but Steak keeps him there for the moment.

Steak escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Steak blocks a jab.
Steak with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Nice takedown defense from O Sullivan. No joy for Steak on that attempt.
Steak closes the distance and clinches up with O Sullivan, looking for a takedown. Steak pushes O Sullivan against the cage but O Sullivan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Steak connects with a single shot there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A slow jab from O Sullivan misses its intended target.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Omaha Steak will probably get the nod.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Steak is taking a breather. O Sullivan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

O Sullivan looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steak keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Let's hope that Steak has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Omaha Steak hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Steak counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Steak shoots in for a double leg but O Sullivan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Steak dives in and grabs O Sullivan's left leg, looking for a takedown. O Sullivan pushes down on Steak's head and hops out.

O Sullivan throws a right hand that Steak ducks under and follows up with a left that Steak also avoids with ease.

Steak looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? O Sullivan is fending him off so far but Steak persists. Nope, O Sullivan circles away and we're back to standing.

Steak throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Patrick O Sullivan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Steak takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Steak tries for a takedown but O Sullivan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
O Sullivan lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Steak really doesn't want to stay on the ground with O Sullivan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Steak takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
O Sullivan is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Omaha Steak is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Omaha Steak was stalling too much, according to the referee.
O Sullivan throws a right and a left that Steak avoids nicely.
O Sullivan slaps away a takedown attempt from Steak, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Steak decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Omaha Steak comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Steak winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
