Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kova Tangis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kai West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kova Tangis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kai West!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

West clinches up against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on West's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Tangis goes for a takedown in the clinch but West prevents it.
Tangis is pressed up against the cage. West has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tangis down to the mat. Tangis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Tangis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tangis showed some decent athleticism there.

Tangis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so West is just riding it out for now. Tangis eventually gives up the hold.
Tangis thows a huge punch but West dodges it nicely.
West is looking to control Tangis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can West avoid being mounted?

That's one minute gone in the round.
West moves into full guard.
Tangis trying to control but West is working from the bottom.

West is looking for a triangle but Tangis pushes his legs off easily.
Tangis advances to half guard.
Tangis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed West's head.
Tangis not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Tangis trying to control the action but West is working from the bottom.
Tangis is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for West!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
West sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Tangis decides to return to a standing position.

West fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tangis sprawls well initially but West persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tangis kicks off West and gets to his feet.
Tangis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
West looks gassed!

Tangis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. West did well to prevent Tangis getting side control.
Tangis is thwarting West's attempts to control the position.
Tangis not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Tangis passes the guard and advances to mount!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tangis wants to finish this one by submission but West is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Tangis.

West working to try and regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tangis punishing his opponent with strikes.
Tangis misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
West trying desperately to get to his feet.
Tangis with shots to the head and body - West looks very uncomfortable down there.

West is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
West keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Tangis putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tangis pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
West is desperately trying to improve his position but Tangis has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Tangis landing strikes from the mount and West is in trouble!
The referee warns West that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Tangis has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of West's face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kova Tangis dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Tangis is looking to clinch but West is avoiding it.
West defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Tangis.

Tangis scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Tangis throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
West is looking for a sweep.
West throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

Tangis tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Tangis is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down West's shoulder. That is not cool.

Tangis thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
West tries to bench press Tangis off him but Tangis keeps the position.
West is breathing heavily.
West looks to move to half guard but instead Tangis has passed into mount! Damn!
Kova Tangis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Tangis looking to control and managing it successfully.
Tangis wants to control the pace but West is squirming around nicely.
Tangis thowing shots but they're missing.

Tangis avoids the attempt from West to control.
West is squirming around, avoiding Tangis's attempts to control the action.
Tangis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
West tries to hold on but Tangis postures up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if West can do anything to dispel that myth.
Tangis wants to control the pace but West is squirming around nicely.

Tangis raining down shots from the mount!
Tangis prevents West from getting the reversal.
West tries to lock up and control but Tangis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
West keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Tangis has hold of West's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and West manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Tangis looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

West is looking to get to half guard.
Tangis looking to control but West is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
West tries to hold on but Tangis postures up.
Tangis controlling the pace for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
West wants to control but Tangis is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kova Tangis dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



West moves into the clinch successfully.

West pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
West fails with a takedown attempt.
Tangis fails with the takedown.
Kova Tangis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Tangis looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Tangis cracks West with a solid left hand.
West wants to sweep here but Tangis controlling him for the moment.
West has control of Tangis's left arm, preventing Tangis from doing any damage.
West takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Tangis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. West swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tangis passes West's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
West trying to hold on to Tangis's head to control him but Tangis postures up.
West is refusing to be controlled, as Tangis sits in half guard.
Tangis trying to control the pace.
Tangis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kova Tangis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

West tries to get to full guard but Tangis has control of the leg.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
West doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Tangis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tangis.

West tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tangis just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kova Tangis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kai West.

West is staying active underneath Tangis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Tangis is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Kova Tangis has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Tangis dives in and scores a takedown into West's guard.

West looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Tangis passes into half guard.
Tangis is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

You get the feeling that West really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Tangis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
West wants to control but Tangis is having none of it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tangis looking to finish West with some ground and pound. This is bad for West!
Kai West has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tangis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kova Tangis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tangis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
