Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Takeo Okamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martez Cortega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Takeo Okamoto!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Martez Cortega!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortega fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Okamoto manages to avoid it.
Okamoto works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Okamoto keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cortega.
Okamoto uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cortega.
Cortega throws a hook to the side of Okamoto's head but Okamoto sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Cortega staying out of range there.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Okamoto takes one on the button.
Cortega fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Okamoto looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Okamoto slips under a jab.
Okamoto cracks the inside of Cortega's front leg.
Cortega thows a body shot but no joy.
Cortega misses with a body shot.
Okamoto moves out of range of the strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Okamoto wants to clinch up but Cortega keeps it at a distance.
Cortega fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Cortega shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Okamoto pinned against the cage. Okamoto gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Okamoto throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cortega stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Okamoto scores with a shot to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cortega checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Cortega darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Okamoto trying to hold on to Cortega's head to control him but Cortega postures up.
Okamoto wants to improve his position but Cortega is controlling well.
Cortega is thwarting Okamoto's attempts to control the position.
Cortega working Okamoto over with strikes.
Okamoto keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Okamoto is looking for a sweep. Cortega is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Okamoto is staying active underneath Cortega, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Okamoto is trying to control but can't.
Okamoto works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Okamoto wants to sweep but no luck.
Okamoto is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Cortega is looking to work some ground and pound but Okamoto has wrist control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Okamoto is on top in guard.
Cortega keeping moving, preventing Okamoto from controlling successfully.
Cortega is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Okamoto slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Okamoto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cortega has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Okamoto has managed to get both his arms back between Cortega's legs - danger averted.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cortega trying to keep a closed guard but Okamoto is proving a slippery customer.
Okamoto wants to control from the top but Cortega keeps moving.
Cortega is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Okamoto trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Okamoto not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Takeo Okamoto just wasn't active enough.
A nice inside leg kick there by Okamoto. That's going to slow Cortega down.
Okamoto lands a glancing blow to the side of Cortega's head.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Okamoto lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Cortega has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Cortega and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Okamoto steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cortega.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cortega. Okamoto does a little dance to reset his feet.
Okamoto keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Okamoto clinches.
Cortega goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Cortega wants to take the fight to the mat but Okamoto manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Okamoto trying to stall but Cortega improves his position.
Cortega is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Cortega misses with a hook to the ribs.
Cortega changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Okamoto fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Takeo Okamoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martez Cortega.
Okamoto lands with an uppercut that bounces Cortega off the cage and back into range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Okamoto shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Okamoto avoids a punch combination nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Takeo Okamoto dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Cortega ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Okamoto moves away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cortega is defended easily by Okamoto.
A slapping leg kick lands for Okamoto.
Cortega tries to bum rush Okamoto with a series of wild strikes but Okamoto uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Takeo Okamoto is winning the standup battle so far.
Okamoto lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
A left lands for Okamoto.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Okamoto here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Cortega looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Whack! Okamoto lands a heavy head kick that drops Cortega. The ref tackles Okamoto to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Cortega was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Takeo Okamoto!
