PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dylan Carpenter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nigel Clark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carpenter comes to the cage accompanied by thunderstruk. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nigel Clark!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clark misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Carpenter fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carpenter throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Clark shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Carpenter is trying to defend but Clark finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Clark is working for a submission of some sort.
Clark uses his free foot to push down on Carpenter's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Carpenter.
Carpenter's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Clark fails to advance to Carpenter's back.
Clark looking to control but Carpenter is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carpenter is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Clark has hold of Carpenter's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Carpenter manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Carpenter is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Clark gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Clark looks to land a left hand but Carpenter moved out of range nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Carpenter enables Clark to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Carpenter manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

No joy there for Carpenter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Carpenter throws a right and a left that Clark avoids nicely.
Carpenter throws a right hand that Clark ducks under and follows up with a left that Clark also avoids with ease.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Clark.
Dylan Carpenter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nigel Clark.

Clark closes the distance and pushes Carpenter back into the cage.
Carpenter is trying to force a seperation but Clark has the dominant position.
Clark has a couple of punches blocked by Carpenter.
Clark is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Carpenter to keep the fight standing.
Carpenter wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Carpenter can't break the clinch.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Carpenter breaks from the clinch.
Carpenter swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Carpenter throws a series of punches but Clark moves out of range.
Carpenter throws a nice looking combination but Clark bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Carpenter misses with a double jab

and Clark counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Clark.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Clark postures up in Carpenter's guard and throws a big left but Carpenter blocks it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carpenter wants to stand but Clark is controlling the position.
Carpenter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Clark on the ground.
Clark tries to free his leg and advance position but Carpenter is retaining full guard.
Clark prevents Carpenter from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Carpenter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Clark is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Clark is looking to work some ground and pound but Carpenter has wrist control.
Clark stays in close to Carpenter's body and controls the position.
Carpenter wants to stand but Clark is controlling the position.

Nigel Clark has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Carpenter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Clark circles away quickly and effectively.
Clark is looking to clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Carpenter looks to land a combination but Clark avoids it well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Clark has closed the distance and engaged Carpenter in a clinch.
Clark wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Carpenter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Clark counters with a nice double leg into side control. Carpenter won't be happy with that.
The referee asks Clark politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Clark prefers to stall for the moment though.
Carpenter is trying to buck Clark off.

Clark is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Carpenter looks calm but he's in trouble here. Clark gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Carpenter is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Clark lets go of the hold and Carpenter can pop his arm back in it's socket.
