PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fatih Emir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emir comes into the arena with i kill people blaring out of the sound system. Alves has chosen Carl Orff - Carmina Burana - André Rieu's version as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Emir looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Alves!

Emir swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Alves is now in Emir's guard. A big mistake from Emir there, giving up the dominant position!

Alves is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Emir is just riding it out for now. Alves eventually gives up the hold.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Alves has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Emir is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Alves.
