The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arona with a poor takedown
and Velka counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Velka lands a high kick!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Arona is defended easily by Velka.
Arona fails with the takedown
and Velka counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Arona. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Velka lands a nice hook to Arona's body. Arona takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Decent striking displayed by Velka there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Arona tries for a takedown but Velka circles away easily
and Velka counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Velka drives through and clinches with Arona against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Velka landing knees to the head.
Velka jerks Arona's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Arona drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Velka goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Velka because Arona was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Miklo Velka!
