Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raquan Richardson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stephen Ybarra! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Richardson moves out of range of the body kick. Ybarra throws a body punch but Richardson moves out of range. Ybarra tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice body kick there by Richardson. Richardson throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Ybarra throws a push kick but Richardson slaps the foot to one side. Richardson connects with a high kick. Ybarra moves into range and clinches up with Richardson. Ybarra is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Richardson can't fight it off and eventually Ybarra manages to take the fight to the floor. Richardson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Ybarra controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ybarra passes Richardson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice strikes from Ybarra there. Richardson is looking to control Ybarra's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Richardson avoid being mounted? Ybarra is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Richardson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ybarra on the ground. Ybarra passes the guard and advances to mount! Ybarra looking to secure an arm triangle but Richardson defends it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ybarra unloading with bombs! Richardson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Richardson is working to get back to half guard.
Ybarra lands a heavy elbow. Ybarra looking to control and managing it successfully. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ybarra's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Richardson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Ybarra looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Richardson tries to hold on but Ybarra postures up. Richardson is breathing heavily. Ybarra tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Richardson tries to improve his position but instead Ybarra has taken his back! Richardson is trying to defend against the choke here but Ybarra has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Ybarra Tightens the hold and Richardson taps out furiously! Ybarra displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
