PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between James Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Michaels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michaels has chosen Sexy Boy as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Michaels!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson looks for a takedown but Michaels sprawls well.
Michaels shoots in but no luck this time.

Jackson pushes Michaels up against the cage in a clinch.

Jackson decides to pull guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Michaels passes into half guard.
Jackson scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Michaels manages to mount him!

Michaels get's back to his feet.
Jackson looks for a takedown but Michaels sprawls well.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Michaels.
Jackson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Jackson is breathing heavily.

Jackson trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Michaels decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jackson to his feet.
Michaels changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to avoid it but Michaels manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jackson to the ground. Jackson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Michaels.
Jackson pushes Michaels away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Michaels gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Michaels stands up and we're back to a striking position.

and Michaels counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Shawn Michaels showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jackson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Michaels is fending him off so far but Jackson persists. Nope, Michaels circles away and we're back to standing.

What's going on here? Michaels has decided to give up on the ground game despite having his opponent's back!

Jackson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Michaels tries for a takedown but Jackson manages to get underhooks.

Jackson lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Jackson prevents Michaels from standing back up.
Shawn Michaels is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Jackson throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Michaels to regain full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Jackson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Michaels is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Michaels has escaped and now he's on top!
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Michaels manages to pass to side control.
James Jackson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
