Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Macca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Dir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brian Dir has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Macca!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Dir!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Macca drives through with a takedown into Dir's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Macca is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Dir wants to stand up but Macca is controlling him.
Macca is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Macca won't allow Dir to get back to his feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Andrew Macca wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Dir looks to score with a jab to the body but Macca is just out of range.

Dir misses with a straight left.

and Macca counters with a series of strikes. Dir will be more careful next time no doubt.

Macca throws a shot to the body.
A slapping body kick lands there for Macca.
Dir looks to land a right hand but Macca moved out of range.

Macca has Dir up against the cage in a clinch.
Macca misses with a hook to the ribs.

Macca fails to pull guard.
Dir has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Dir dodges an elbow strike from Macca.

Dir tries to pull guard but Macca won't allow it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Macca gets control of Dir's arms and successfully pulls guard. Macca will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Macca wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Dir wants to stand but Macca is controlling his posture from full guard.
Macca will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Macca seems keen to control Dir's posture.
Dir must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Andrew Macca.
Dir misses with a straight right.
Dir misses the jab.
Macca fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Dir is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Macca closes the distance and pushes Dir back into the cage.

Dir can't break the clinch.

Macca breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Macca really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Macca moves away from the strike by Dir.
Macca shoots in looking for a takedown but Dir manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Macca's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrew Macca. That's going to take a lot out of him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dir throws a hook but Macca blocks it.
Dir just misses with a punch to the body.
Macca slips under a jab from Dir.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Macca shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Dir eats them both and turns towards Macca to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

and Macca counters with a takedown into side control.
Dir is trying to get back to his feet.
Macca takes a little break here. Dir wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Macca sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Dir is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Dir wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Macca moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Dir really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Macca. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dir is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Macca has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Macca controls the position.

Macca swings around for an armbar but Dir sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Macca's guard.
Macca manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Macca moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Dir has worked his arm free - good work by Dir!

Dir is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Andrew Macca overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Macca tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Macca has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Dir is being controlled here.
Macca advances nicely into full mount.
Macca looking to control and managing it successfully.

Macca goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Dir turns into him and now he's in Macca's guard.
Macca pulls Dir in to control the position.
Dir preventing the sweep.

Macca is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Macca has his foot on Dir's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dir works his way back into a safe position though.

Dir has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Macca is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Macca working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dir doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dir manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Macca is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Macca tries to pull guard but Dir won't allow it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dir wants to break the clinch but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Dir thows a body shot but no joy.
Dir throws a right and a left that both miss.

Macca drives through and clinches with Dir against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Macca breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Macca throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Dir misses with a left hand

and Macca counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Macca.
Macca stands and throws Dir's legs to the side, diving into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Macca decides to stand back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dir is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Macca looks for a takedown but Dir sprawls well.

Dir gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dir is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Macca is controlling him.
Macca advances to half guard.
Macca stalling.
Macca stops Dir from getting back to his feet.

Macca controlling the action here.
Macca thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Dir keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The ref stands the fighters back up because Andrew Macca just wasn't active enough.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Macca keeps control of Dir as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Macca gets control of Dir's arms and successfully pulls guard. Macca will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Macca holds on and takes a little breather.
Dir wants to stand and escape but instead Macca has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Dir wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Macca manages to pass to side control.
Macca takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Macca decides to stand up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Macca slips under a jab from Dir.
Brian Dir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Andrew Macca is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Dir rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Macca counters with a slapping leg kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Andrew Macca showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Macca has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
