Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Salvador Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Ghambaryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ghambaryan has chosen Right Said Fred - I`m Too Sexy as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Salvador Cannon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roman Ghambaryan!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, David Schapiro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Ghambaryan misses the target.
Cannon throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ghambaryan slips under a jab.
Cannon lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Ghambaryan walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Cannon closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ghambaryan did well to prevent Cannon getting side control.
Cannon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ghambaryan keeps working.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Roman Ghambaryan.
Cannon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ghambaryan as he avoids it easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ghambaryan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Ghambaryan counters with a nice kick to the body.

Cannon throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ghambaryan on the side of the head.

It looks like Roman Ghambaryan has been cut.

Ghambaryan moves into range and clinches up with Cannon.
Cannon gets through Ghambaryan's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Cannon tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Cannon throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Ghambaryans head.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ghambaryan walks into a jab.
Ghambaryan jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Cannon connects with a right hand. Ghambaryan shakes it off.
Cannon throws a lazy right hand but Ghambaryan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ghambaryan fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Cannon is out of range.

Cannon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ghambaryan's guard.

Cannon is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Ghambaryan seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Ghambaryan is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Cannon is looking to advance position but Ghambaryan has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Ghambaryan wants to take Cannon's back here but Cannon is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Ghambaryan. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Roman Ghambaryan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cannon lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nice shot lands for Cannon.

and Ghambaryan makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Cannon swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Salvador Cannon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cannon thows a huge punch but Ghambaryan dodges it nicely.

Cannon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cannon is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Cannon swats away the attempt to clinch by Ghambaryan.

Ghambaryan takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Our winner, Salvador Cannon, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
