Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcio Feitosa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Frost! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Kavanagh and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frost misses with a wild combination.
Feitosa misses with an uppercut. Frost keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Frost misses with a right hand and Feitosa counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Frost's guard now. Feitosa gets to his feet - Frost follows without any prompting. Feitosa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Feitosa swings for the body but Frost moves out of range.
Feitosa tries to clinch but Frost moves out of range. Feitosa doesn't manage to clinch there - Frost circles away.
Frost throws a left and a right that both miss
and Feitosa counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Frost throws a half hearted mid kick. Frost displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Feitosa misses with a body shot.
Feitosa misses with an uppercut. Feitosa tries to clinch but fails miserably and Frost cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Feitosa misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Feitosa with a lazy takedown attempt and Feitosa takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcio Feitosa. That's going to take a lot out of him. A lazy left from Frost finds it's target. Frost ducks under a wild hook from Feitosa. Frost thows a left - swing and a miss! Frost looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Feitosa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Frost but Frost pushes him off and we're back to square one. A decent looking cross lands there for Frost. Feitosa shoots and misses and Frost counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Feitosa is breathing heavily. Frost missing with a left hand there. Feitosa was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Frost has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Feitosa defending well as Frost loads up on a big left hand. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Feitosa. Frost will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Frost lands a slapping body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A big left from Feitosa misses. Feitosa lands with a shot to the body. Frost ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Frost throws a shot to the body.
Frost rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Feitosa moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Feitosa throws a looping overhand right but Frost ducks down to avoid it. Frost connects with a nice looking jab.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Feitosa. Frost is trying to buck Feitosa off. Feitosa trying to control the position but Frost is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Feitosa decides to take the fight back to the feet. Marcio Feitosa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Frost leaves Feitosa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Frost throws a shot from downtown. Feitosa moves away and avoids it. Frost throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Feitosa misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Frost.
Feitosa has his takedown stuffed and Frost counters with a straight right hand. Feitosa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Frost looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Feitosa throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Feitosa decides to return to a standing position. Feitosa fails with a takedown attempt from distance. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Frost throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Feitosa shoots in for a takedown but Frost shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Frost keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Justin Frost is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Frost throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Feitosa dives in and grabs Frost's left leg, looking for a takedown. Frost pushes down on Feitosa's head and hops out. Frost misses with a kick to the body.
Feitosa displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Frost throws out the jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Marcio Feitosa will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Frost misses with a double jab.
Frost throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Feitosa sees it coming and avoids it easily. Feitosa shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Frost sprawls well. Frost wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Feitosa gets slowly back to his feet. Feitosa shoots in looking for a takedown. Frost tries to sprawl out of it but Feitosa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Frost manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Feitosa keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Frost. Feitosa gets a takedown into half guard. Frost really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Feitosa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Feitosa tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Frost. Feitosa tries to pass to full mount but Frost defends it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Feitosa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Frost keeps working. Feitosa is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Frost is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
