Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Zen Gutz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joaquin Shodo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zen Gutz had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zen Gutz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joaquin Shodo! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gutz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shodo moves away. Gutz closes the distance and lands a one-two. Gutz just misses with a punch to the body.
Gutz fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Shodo checks it well. Shodo dives in and scores a takedown into Gutz's guard. Gutz has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Shodo has passed into side control.
Shodo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Gutz manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Gutz trying to advance position but Shodo counters by regaining guard. Shodo pushes Gutz off and scrambles back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gutz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gutz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Shodo sees it coming and avoids it easily. Gutz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shodo. Shodo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Horrible takedown by Shodo or perhaps it was just good defense by Gutz which made him look bad. Shodo fails with the takedown and Gutz counters with a straight right hand. Zen Gutz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joaquin Shodo. Shodo takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Shodo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gutz's waist but Gutz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shodo off to one side. Gutz throws a hook but Shodo avoids it easily. Zen Gutz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. No luck with that takedown attempt from Shodo. Shodo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gutz.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gutz tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shodo was well out of range. Poor timing from Gutz. Gutz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shodo manages to avoid it. Sloppy strikes from Gutz. Those never looked like landing. Shodo with a lazy takedown attempt and Shodo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Gutz throws a body punch but Shodo moves out of range. Shodo shoots in but Gutz avoids the takedown attempt easily. Shodo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gutz as he jumps to the side. Gutz misses with a body shot.
Gutz misses the shot to the body. Gutz misses with a wild body shot. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gutz throws a series of punches but Shodo moves out of range. Shodo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gutz but Gutz pushes him off and we're back to square one. Gutz stuffs the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shodo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gutz swivels and escapes. Gutz is looking to wear down Shodo with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Shodo fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Gutz scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Gutz throws a lazy right hand but Shodo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Joaquin Shodo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shodo takes a body punch but keeps moving. Gutz shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Gutz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shodo shoots for a double leg takedown but Gutz sprawls well. He's pushed Shodo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Gutz misses with a wild body shot. Gutz tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shodo was well out of range. Poor timing from Gutz. Gutz throws a body punch but Shodo moves out of range. Shodo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gutz's guard. Gutz trying to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shodo drops back looking for a leg! Gutz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gutz manages to kick Shodo off! Shodo jumps back into Gutz's guard. Shodo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shodo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shodo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Zen Gutz will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gutz. Shodo does a little dance to reset his feet. Gutz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shodo manages to avoid it. Gutz thows a body shot but no joy. Gutz swings for the body but Shodo moves out of range.
Gutz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shodo. Gutz looks to score with a jab to the body but Shodo is just out of range. Shodo shoots in looking for a takedown but Gutz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shodo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Shodo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gutz sprawls well initially but Shodo persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Shodo has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Gutz defend it? Shodo steps over the head and cranks it - Gutz is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Shodo!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Joaquin Shodo! An out of breath Joaquin Shodo thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
