Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz comes to the cage accompanied by Look At Me Now. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nick Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anthony Pettis! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pettis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Diaz, pushing him back against the cage. Pettis unloads a knee to the mid-section. Diaz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Diaz is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pettis to keep the fight standing. Pettis utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Diaz tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pettis smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Diaz scores with a sloppy right hand. Pettis should have avoided that one. Diaz misses with a series of wild punches.
Diaz lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Pettis at a distance.
This has been an exciting period of action! Diaz tests Pettis's chin there with a solid looking shot. Diaz throws a leg kick that is checked and Pettis counters by moving into the clinch. Diaz is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pettis to keep the fight standing. Pettis stalling against the cage.

Pettis throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Diaz blocks it with crossed arms. Pettis putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Diaz in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Pettis lands a damaging elbow. Diaz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pettis just stands there and leans against the cage. Pettis connects with a knee to the head.

Diaz is breathing heavily. Diaz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Diaz is trying to keep an underhook but Pettis manages to get the takedown into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pettis content just to control the position here. A nice elbow there by Pettis. Pettis punching from mount but Diaz doing a good job of avoiding damage. Pettis sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pettis throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Diaz really wants to buck Pettis off and get back to his feet. Diaz working to try and regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Pettis looking to control and managing it successfully. Pettis throws an elbow from mount that misses. That's five minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Pettis cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Pettis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Pettis thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Pettis throwing strikes but Diaz recovers to half guard. A much better position. Pettis seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Pettis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Diaz is staying active underneath Pettis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Pettis stands up and beckons Diaz to join him on the feet. Pettis avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Nick Diaz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Some bone on bone action there as Pettis checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Diaz fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pettis looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Diaz swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pettis tries to bum rush Diaz with a series of wild strikes but Diaz uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Diaz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pettis manages to avoid it. Pettis clinches with his opponent.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pettis creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Diaz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pettis walks away with a smile on his face. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Nice jab there from Diaz. Diaz misses the shot to the body.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Diaz lands with a shot to the body. Diaz throws a lazy right hand but Pettis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Diaz misses with a looping left. Diaz throws a left and a right that both miss
and Pettis counters with a left and a right that stings Diaz. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Diaz tries a head kick but it misses.
Diaz scores with a nice head shot. Diaz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pettis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Diaz, pushing him back against the cage. Pettis lands a shoulder strike. Pettis unloads a knee to the mid-section. Pettis scores with a nice hook to the head. Pettis scores with a shot to the side of Diaz's head. Pettis is leaning against Diaz and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. A nice glancing elbow lands by Pettis.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Diaz tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pettis smiles and moves away.

and Pettis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Pettis decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Diaz, up you get! Pettis clinches up with Diaz and pushes him back against the cage. Pettis digs a right hand into Diaz's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Diaz's gas tank. Knees in the clinch landing for Pettis.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Diaz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Diaz takes a knee to the side of the body. Pettis connects with a knee to the head.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Pettis takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Pettis lands an elbow inside that Diaz shrugs off. Diaz is rocked! Pettis creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Diaz's defenses. Oh Diaz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Pettis lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Diaz backwards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pettis lands a good knee to the midsection. Diaz won't want to take too many of those. Diaz takes a knee right on the jaw!
