Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Trey Whatley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Macca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trey Whatley has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Trey Whatley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Macca! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Macca changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Whatley tries to avoid it but Macca manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Whatley to the ground. Whatley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Whatley closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Whatley lands in his opponent's guard. Macca utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Macca throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Whatley wants to control from the top but Macca keeps moving. Macca has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Whatley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Macca on the ground. Whatley wants to control from the top but Macca keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whatley wants to stand but Macca has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Trey Whatley just wasn't active enough. Whatley tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Macca was well out of range. Poor timing from Whatley. Whatley lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Macca lands with a kick to the temple. Whatley shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" No joy there for Whatley, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Macca shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Whatley as he avoids it easily. Macca moves into the clinch successfully.
Macca escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Whatley connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Macca fails to land the takedown. Trey Whatley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Macca. Macca keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Whatley fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Macca sprawls well initially but Whatley persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Macca slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Macca is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Macca is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Whatley is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Macca pulls him back up using the underhooks. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Macca. Macca changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Whatley fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Andrew Macca seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Macca shoots in but Whatley avoids the takedown attempt easily. Macca looks gassed! A looping hook to the body misses from Whatley. Macca does a little dance to reset his feet. Macca shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Whatley sprawls well. Whatley wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Macca gets slowly back to his feet. Macca moves in looking to clinch but Whatley pushes him off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Whatley tries to score with a low kick but Macca moves his leg out of the way. Macca shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Whatley as he avoids it easily. Whatley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Whatley lands a nice shot to the body.
Whatley shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Whatley seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Whatley trying to control from half guard but Macca is working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Macca tries to clinch there but Whatley circles away.
Macca gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Whatley. The fight stays on the outside here - Macca looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Macca fails to land the takedown. Whatley fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Macca avoids it really well and circles away. Macca ducks right into an uppercut from Whatley. Macca moves in looking to clinch but Whatley pushes him off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whatley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Whatley is looking to land body kicks. Macca just misses with a punch to the body.

Whatley ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Macca moves away. Macca moves away from the strike by Whatley. Whatley throws a leg kick but Macca checks it. Whatley tries a head kick but it misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whatley scores with a hook to the body. Macca takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Macca defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Whatley. Whatley gets the takedown into side control. Whatley looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Macca manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Macca thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Macca not landing any meaningful shots this time. Whatley on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Whatley tries to get out of the position. Macca prevents Whatley from improving his position.

Whatley pushes Macca off looking to stand but Macca dives back in and keeps control.
Macca is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Macca working for a guillotine from mount but Whatley is in no mood to give up. Macca sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Macca avoids the attempt from Whatley to control. Macca looking to control but Whatley is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Trey Whatley will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Whatley is looking to wear down Macca with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Whatley tries to clinch up but Macca circles away and keeps his distance. Whatley closes the distance and lands a one-two. Macca fails in his attempt to clinch. Whatley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Macca scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Macca looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whatley jabbing away but nothing is landing. Macca cracks the inside of Whatley's front leg. Whatley closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Macca quickly recovers to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Macca takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Whatley seems to be looking for submissions.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Andrew Macca hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Whatley closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Macca quickly recovers to half guard. Macca is looking to control Whatley's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Macca avoid being mounted? The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Macca is pressing down on Whatley's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Macca trying to control the position here. Whatley looking to sit in guard and control but Macca gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Macca passes Whatley's left leg - he's now in half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Whatley manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Trey Whatley. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Whatley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
