Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jens Pulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Hobbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jens Pulver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luke Hobbs!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hobbs misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hobbs looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pulver is fending him off so far but Hobbs persists. Nope, Pulver circles away and we're back to standing.

Pulver has taken the fight to the clinch.

Pulver breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hobbs falls off balance throwing a combination
and Pulver counters with a series of strikes. Hobbs will be more careful next time no doubt.
Hobbs looks to throw a body kick

and Pulver counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pulver.

Pulver breaks from the clinch.
Pulver throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hobbs throws a nice looking combination but Pulver bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hobbs looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Pulver clinches.
Hobbs jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pulver walks away with a smile on his face. Hobbs gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Pulver closes the distance and clinches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hobbs tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jens Pulver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Hobbs.

Pulver's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hobbs misses with a series of wild punches.
Pulver moves out of range of the body kick from Hobbs.
Hobbs throws a head kick but Pulver moves out of range.

Pulver looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Pulver looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Hobbs is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pulver tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hobbs.
Pulver is controlling the pace.

Pulver's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Jens Pulver wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Pulver fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hobbs, pushing him back against the cage.

Hobbs is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pulver to keep the fight standing.

Hobbs gets control of Pulver's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hobbs will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Pulver has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hobbs is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pulver pulls his head out easily.
Pulver tries to stand but can't do so whilst Hobbs controls his leg.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pulver knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hobbs on the ground.

Hobbs throws a left and a right that both miss
and Pulver counters with a head kick. That will keep Hobbs thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Horrible takedown by Hobbs or perhaps it was just good defense by Pulver which made him look bad.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pulver keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Hobbs fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Pulver has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hobbs is trying to keep an underhook but Pulver manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Pulver throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hobbs works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Pulver has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hobbs is proving hard to escape from.

Hobbs is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pulver is aware though and is defending well.

Pulver has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hobbs is proving hard to escape from.
Pulver wants to control from the top but Hobbs keeps moving.

Hobbs might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pulver kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Pulver is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Pulver stands up and waves to Hobbs to follow him.
Hobbs looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hobbs throws a head kick that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Luke Hobbs will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Jens Pulver overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
