PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Haminall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haminall comes to the cage accompanied by The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkle. Mike Tyson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Matt Haminall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Tyson!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Haminall shoots in for a double leg but Tyson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Tyson stuffs the takedown.

Tyson gets caught flat footed, as Haminall shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Haminall stops Tyson from standing up.

Tyson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Tyson wants to break the clinch but can't.

Haminall shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Haminall content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Haminall prevents Tyson from standing back up.
Haminall keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Tyson looks like he's trying to stand up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tyson can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Tyson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Haminall.

Haminall looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Matt Haminall wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Tyson is trying to stand back up but Haminall is controlling him

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Haminall looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Haminall seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tyson for as long as he can get away with.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Matt Haminall.
Haminall shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Haminall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tyson moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.


It looks like Matt Haminall has been cut.
Tyson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Haminall.
Haminall showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Tyson.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Haminall looks for a takedown but Tyson sprawls well.
Tyson throws a right and a left that Haminall avoids nicely.
Tyson tries to bum rush Haminall with a series of wild strikes but Haminall uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Tyson stuffs the takedown.
No joy there for Tyson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tyson scores with a three punch combo!
Haminall tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tyson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Haminall somewhat.

Oooooh!!! Tyson has knocked Haminall down with a huge combo! Tyson steps away and waves a wobbly Haminall back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Haminall is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Haminall dodges the punch combination from Tyson.
Tyson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Tyson lands a left and a right that send Haminall crashing to the mat, dazed. Tyson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Oh Haminall is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!


Matt Haminall's cut is getting worse.
Tyson connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Haminall tumbling to the canvas! Tyson pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Haminall was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mike Tyson!
In his post fight interview, Mike Tyson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
